The proposed stadium site is a good one. Right next to Greektown Casino, about three or four blocks from Ford Field and only three or four blocks from the riverfront district.
I wonder if MLS expansion means eventually they'll implement promotion/relegation to the league.
I don't know how anyone can actually read Sports Illustrated on-line, but there's an article in these ads somewhere about the lineup for the next expansion sides.
Quick (1 min) YouTube of renderings and location for anyone interested. You can see the proximity to Ford Field and Comerica Park (and only about five blocks away from the new Red Wings arena as well). Total investment is reportedly about $1 billion. The only public cost would be the land (which is currently owned by the county and which is kind of the only major sticking point since they've got a failed project to build a jail there).

Went to the DC United game last night with my family. My daughter's U-7 team was part of the team tunnel before the game. I think I am in trouble, she could not stop talking about Pirlo.
Sources: Two guys Mister D likes and the only "american" on the team he'd ever heard of prior to NYCFC having an actual roster could eventually be on their way out.

Would love to see a Venn diagram of Bernie Bros and DCFC fans in Detroit bitching about Gilbert/Gores trying to get an MLS team for Detroit. That's one argument I'll never understand:
Them: "We don't want an MLS team because we like our fourth-tier club with passionate supporters."
Me: "You assholes know you can be a passionate supporter of an MLS team, right?"
Them: "It's just not the same supporting a corporate entity, man. You just don't get what it's like to be a soccer fan, dude."
mister d wrote:So it was technically for the better, but the fact that last night's game wasn't televised inside the local market is embarrassing. Again.
The only way you can watch Columbus Crew games is if you're a Time Warner cable subscriber. They started that last season and their TV viewership plummeted. It's beyond stupid.
LA Galaxy are a bunch of low integrity scumbags (especially when playing a team of low class scum bags), I think the ref botched this. Either make it clear you are not holding up play or clear that the time waster should get up (also the other team should have gotten right on top of the ball and made them hold up) http://screamer.deadspin.com/l-a-galaxy ... 1782008941

I spent a couple of minutes looking for an Open Cup thread to post that link this morning. I was pretty disappointed in you when I came up empty.
Same thing happened before we played the Harrison Red Bulls too. Its such poseur bullshit. There's no history and not even a true home beyond "the city" and yet people are fighting and shit.

So fucking dumb, and the reason I can't get behind Orlando City. Back when they were in the USL (from 2010-2014), their shithead fans came over to a Rowdies game and started trouble during a friendly.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.

That's a shame. (Will be there Saturday night.)
SKC gave up a late goal to force ET last night too. Thankfully they play Sunday in the ESPN game.
Or not thankfully. It's supposed to be 97. And the game kicks off at 4 local. Our seats are directly in the sun too. F.

So I wanted to test myself out around 1.5 years in. 18/20, but one of the misses I'd legitimately never heard of. Like you could have given me a list of ten, one I would have picked out immediately and the other would have been a total guess.
RSL hosted Inter the day before yesterday, the first stop on Inter's US tour.
I have to say, hats off to Inter for starting a mostly full squad. They actually kept their starters in for longer than RSL did. By late in the second half, though, it was like a late-inning spring training game. How often do you get to see number 55 from one team defending against number 55 from the other?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Friday the MLS will announce Minnesota United FC will join Atlanta United in the MLS next year.
Hope Minnesota is forced to change. United is DC. Atlanta United is already one too many Uniteds. Why has nobody jumped on the A.C. moniker. Athletic Club is not yet used and pretty solid.
