It looks like David Luiz is likely returning to Chelsea. Interesting. Chelsea currently has one healthy defensive sub, so Sideshow Bob could be a big help. Think that means Cahill to the bench? Or Terry?

Newcastle deserves automatic promotion for getting £60 million for two players who helped get them relegated last year. That is impressive.

Incredible that Sissoko's strong showing in the Euros brought his value up from 2 million to 30 million. I hope that Pochettino sees something there, but once Dembele comes back, I don't know where the guy can even play.

Zenit St. Petersburg has been offered €6.8 million to change it's name to Zenit Burger King. That seems like a pretty low offer, but hopefully they accept.

Agreed, although it helps that I only woke up for the second half.

Stoke seems to have cornered the market on slow 30 year olds who can't pass, shoot or defend.

Celtic put in one of the most abysmal performances imaginable for a team playing in the Champions League.

Barcelona looked like they were playing against 11 pylons.

No Embarrassment in Result says Brendan Rodgers

Sadly it isn't Premier League, but Newcastle put 6 past QPR yesterday.

After losing their first two games, Newcastle has now won their next five and are sitting (barely) in second in the Championship. I guess Rafa and the boys are finally taking things seriously.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Hey!

Celtic missed a penalty when it was 1-0. Could have changed everything

Reminds me of a very old story I read as a boy. The Bears beat the Redskins 73-0 in an NFL championship game, sometime around 1940. Apparently, a Redskin receiver dropped a pass in the end zone when it was 7-0. Redskin QB Sammy Baugh was asked if that might have had a big effect on the game result if the guy had have caught his pass. He replied, "Yeah. It would have ended up as 73-7."

I watched the second half of the Inter Milan/Hapoel Beersheva game and was astounded that the Israeli team basically pushed Inter all over the San Siro. A mind-boggling performance.

Inter lost on purpose so they wouldn't have to wear those hideous jerseys anymore.

That was also crazy! They have one of the classic kits in the game.

I loved when they showed the Beersheva fans going crazy. Barely a minyan!

That was a very bad win for Spurs - Kane may be out for a while.

But at the end of the day, at least I'm not a Sunderland fan.

or a united fan...

Mourinho is destined to follow Moyes and Van Gaal out the door if he doesn't drop Rooney, and leaving him out of Europa League is not dropping him. Can he actually do it? I'm skeptical, but by the time he does it may already be too late. I'm sure it's part of why United fans badly wanted Guardiola, because he's ruthless and would drop Rooney without hesitation.

Rooney is basically Beckham at this point. He doesn't run (well), but is capable of sheer brilliance with a pass or shot. The problem is you could sometimes hide Beckham on the wing, and deal with no defense over there. Rooney has to play behind Ibra, who is also unbelievably slow. It is waaaayyy too early to panic, but something does need to change.

I'm not sure any United fan ever had any misgivings about getting Pep. He's been City bound since he left Barca.

something that has really surprised me is how deep Ibra likes to drop. He's the better Rooney, if you pair him with Rashford up front and support them from the wings, things would look pretty good IMO. But Ibra+Rooney simply doesn't work because they're operating in the same areas. I believe van Persie lamented the same in the Moyes season.
