Three thoughts on this:

1) Cool, but there are going to be a lot of people unable to see a single thing on the field.

2) Drones can get some cool footage.

3) Drones are a menace, and should be banned from areas where a lot of people congregate.

you shouldn't have seen it in the first place as the play should have never happened. Brian has to have a two-week period of no complaining about officiating now.

Isn't that pretty much the one scenario where they can actually overturn?

theoretically it is, but it has to happen on the field. they aren't direct comparisons, but it's like Duke-Miami last year on the kickoff return. You can overturn that post-fact and say the game is over, Duke wins. but that one was allowed to stand because it wasn't corrected on the field.

eta: any conspiracy theories about MAC officiating can go away too. Big 12 had replay responsibilities for the game and admitted they could have stopped the game for a replay to make sure the call was correct. they didn't.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity. They should have run the NASCAR race during the football game.

Attended the PSU/Pitt game. Game was entertaining and much calmer than I expected.

I got a weird vibe from the Pitt fans. They were more fired up for the game and had a chip on their shoulder about everything. So many cheers from their fans about Penn State. They really seem to want to have the game as a rivalry. Growing up on the east side of the state it just wasn't a big deal for me.

They never actually stated the reason, but there are a few reasons that have been tossed around...

1) No room on the schedule for a home/home. PSU needed more guaranteed home games.
2) Joe was still pissed about his conference plans falling apart.
3) Pitt wanted 2 home and 1 away game.

I think it's mostly #1 right now, but prior it was #2 w/ #3.. PSU now only does one home/home a year and 2 cupcakes. After Pitt falls off the schedule it gets replaced by Vtech, Auburn, And WVU. I'd choose those games above a recurring Pitt game.

Here comes the sour grapes from Stillwater.

Funny that Gundy doesn't mention he didn't know the rule either and that it was Big 12 officials in the replay booth who also fucked up. Maybe OSU can pay us off to not complete the return trip in 2018 and he can schedule another game against Southeastern Louisiana instead of having to play tough games against mid-majors.

And yet more butthurt from the OSU student newspaper.

Kinda finding this amusing and entertaining now. I admit being pissed off when an officiating mistake costs my team a game and I get that sentiment. But maybe the Dallas Cowboys should have forfeited the playoff game against the Lions two years ago after officials admitted they screwed up the PI call against Pettigrew with six minutes left. Forget that the Lions had a chance to put the game away themselves (like OSU did Saturday) and didn't. They should have forfeited anyway! It's about the integrity! Seahawks should have forfeited against the Lions last year after the illegal bat that didn't get called. Integrity!

I've never really understood the acceptance of "of course we can't reverse the result" logic on mistakes that should have left the clock at 0:00 (or created the final out in a baseball game or whatever). Not like a midway "this changed the entire game" blown call, but one where the game was truly over for Team X where Team Y would have had no recourse, but was allowed to continue and Team Y won.

Sure. I'll trade the result of this game as soon as MLB changes the result of the Galarraga game. Not even joking.

Brutal loss to UConn for UVA today. Led the whole game, until about 1:30 to go. Then drove down to the two only to have their kicker completely shank the tying field goal.

I'm starting to think this may not be a bowl team.

They have a couple key issues. First is stadium capacity. Neither their FB (20,000) or BB (4,000) would be acceptable for a major D-I Conference. Second is cost of travel in all sports, including the women's sports would be prohibitive. Instead of playing an Iowa for a $500,000 check, they'd play em for "free".

Of course they would consider it if a B1G came calling, but they feel, in FB at least, they are better off in the Championship Division than in a lower level FBS Conference. They feel from a recruiting standpoint, the FCS Playoffs are more inviting to players than an occasional low level bowl game. Of course, part of this is the 5 straight Titles have produced a somewhat arrogant climate their, too.

And, yes, being a UND alumnus makes it hard to tolerate some of their FB fans. But, their success is good PR for the state. And most of their fans are good people. Looking forward to when our FB team can be the ones to shut them up ... I might be dead by then, though.
