Swamp Travel Advice - Los Angeles

Post by Pruitt »

Flying out to L.A. for four days in October - a Thursday to Sunday. And would appreciate any hotel and other tips. I'll be there for work, but will have some free time.

Probably going to stay in the Santa Monica vicinity. Pathetic, but I've already located a bar in that area where the Bills Backers of L.A. meet. God help me if Sunday morning watching Bills-49ers is the highlight of my free time in Southern California.

That post immediately gave me a feeling of serenity.

But you know, driving up the coast could be a great way to spend the day.

The city of LA itself sucks. I don't know anything about Santa Monica, though.

I liked hanging around in Pasadena, that area was nice. DC's suggestion is prob the best bet.

I'd recommend swimming out past the breakers and watching the world die.

Don't mix reds and blues. Make a decision and stick with it.

The L.A. basin covers a shit ton of area, and as you've heard tell, the traffic is difficult. So, I wouldn't stay too far from where you'll need to be. But, if you have free time, there is a lot to see. If you are staying in Santa Monica, you'll find lots of good restaurants and a nice outdoor mall. Lots of homeless people to greet you. Venice Beach is nearby, with lots of interesting people-watching.

What you should do is take the 4-O-5, get on the 1-O-1, get off on Wilshire Boulevard, cross over Ventura...

If you're lucky like me, you'll get to meet Jose Canseco and his dogs in Santa Monica.

Yeah, I'm booked in Marina Del Rey. One set of meetings is 15 minutes east, and another is 15 minutes west. I've been before, so I can live without seeing Hollywood or downtown again.

Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

My directional comments were taken out of context.

yeah, I know, you mean somewhere between Palisades and Malibu. Spiritual west, but compass northwest.

The harvest one was good. Consider that one acknowledged.
