I don't think we can underestimate the support for Trump meaning not that they love Trump but hate Hillary with the fire of 1,000 suns. I think that is getting lost in all the squawking. I'd be curious to see a poll that asked who people would vote for if someone other than Hillary was running.

It's a fact that 40% of the electorate will vote Republican even if they ran a racist hypocrite with no political experience who could be facing criminal charges and who wears an unconvincing costume of a "man of the people."

And on the other side of the coin, 40% of the electorate will vote for an incredibly tainted candidate whose tenure in her most important political office she held was a dismal failure.

All the noise, all months of electioneering, all the billions of dollars just to nudge the remaining 20%.

The remaining 20% in certain states only. That's the craziness of the electoral collage.

Curious in what way Hillary's tenure in the State Department or in the Senate was a "dismal failure". I'll hang up and listen.

Not sure how you can hang that around her neck, but OK. Seems kinda like blaming Obama for massive budget deficits in 2009-2012 when that die was cast long before the 2008 election.

ETA: To be clear it's not so much that I disagree with you just that it seems like an insanely high bar expecting her to resolve any kind of situation in the Middle East in the post-Iraq/Afghanistan War era in only four years. That's a situation that is still playing itself out and will continue to for quite some time. Just not making it worse is almost a win.

Maybe right at the end of that first session, but I think she's doing OK letting him run himself out.

She's letting him take her off message...I don't think she does well in that scenario.

He's took that from his tax returns to her emails. Nicely played.

I finally figured out which one I hate the most.

I hate the one who is talking the most.

When they talk over each other, I hate them equally, but the one who shuts up first, I hate less.

Whew, glad I worked that out.

Ima gunna say something nice. Hillary has a very difficult task here. However you think she is doing (and I think she is doing OK so far, not great, not bad, imo,) can you imagine how Bubba would make fucking mince meat out of Trump in this setting? He'd reduce Donnie to tears.

It is painful.

I watch a lot of CSPAN on the weekends. They have American history and non-fiction books programming. During election years, they show political speeches and events from the past.

Yesterday morning, I flip it on. The first Nixon-Kennedy debate from 1960. In school I studied this event, wrote a big paper about it.

Made me want to cry, contemplating the contrast to what was in store tonight.

eta: sure, degen, all three would make him look silly, in their own way. Dubya eviscerated Gore literally with a glance. I think Bubba is the best at this sort of thing. And Trump is just a different animal from debating a normal politician/person.

If Mitt Romney had argued that stop and frisk had not been ruled unconstitutional in a debate against Obama it would've immediately sunk his campaign.

Hillary's cheapshots so far are really reaching. He's laying them out there on a tee for her and she's pulling up mounds of turf.
