Wonderful. Since I bought those tickets, the Cubs-Dodgers are 0-3. Perfect.

There's no way the Giants win 12 straight elimination games, right?

Watching the replay this morning, after the ball hit the wall Almora gave up on the play. But Crawford had tagged at 2nd. If Almora retrieves the ball does Crawford score?

I think so, because that was a long long way from the plate and Almora's momentum would be taking him the other way.

What a shock that the Giants' bullpen failed them. That never happened this season. Except all the time, I mean.

Poorly, unless things got worse after I left.

That said, it was always fun being to able to vote on what the porn industry could or could not legally do.

Sooo ... if you accept that Moore couldn't have handled the full 9th win or lose, I don't really have an issue with Bochy's bullpen management given his roster. I hate the whole "let the starter go until he makes it tougher on the relievers" style, 100x more when you don't have anything resembling a shutdown reliever. The deadspin article on Casilla makes me feel sad but picking him over Law or even Strickland (strikeout situation) would have been deferring to experience, not the best option to end the game. Going matchup repeatedly looks cartoony but given the overall lack of talent and by batter results, what else could you do? I just don't see any place for the argument that the reliever going in wasn't a decent call or that the timing or replacing wasn't the right call. Real time or hindsight, he did the right-est he could with what he was working with.

The Law of Averages woke up and re-asserted itself with a vengeance.

Seriously, you had the Giants with their streak of winning elimination games and their pattern of even year championships. The Cubs had been 0-9 in playoff games in the west. They had won two of their last sixteen postseason series. There have been three series where the Cubs only had to win one-of-three to clinch a series - they had lost 7 out of 7 games in that situation.

Something had to give.

I agree. Any random pitcher could be expected to get through the ninth without giving up three runs. And Moore was at 120 pitches - if Bochy had left him in, you'd be reading a bunch of stuff about how you should never let a tiring pitcher stay in a postseason game.

Maybe once it got to Romo have to live and die with him? 5 pitchers in an inning is crazy.

Crazier to draw an arbitrary line versus playing the matchups?

(Because it worked out, I guess you give Maddon credit for hitting for Russell in that spot and forcing Bochy's hand, but that one surprised me.)

The way I had it worked out in my head when Zobrist came up, Zobrist was going to double and then Russell was going to drive in the tying runs. (And when Zobrist actually doubled, I almost shat myself.) But I was fine seeing them take Russell out for Coghlan - lately Coghlan has been doing pretty well against lefties.

Hard to believe that for the 2nd year in a row the Jays will be the team to have most recently won a World series out of the 4 teams remaining, despite it being 23 years since they won their last.

So, I am pretty sure Urias just balked at least two times in three throws to first, the third resulting in a pickoff of harper. I think Harold Reynolds got that one right.

Im not ositive who the third guy in the booth is but he also nailed it on the worth trying to score shit. Th third base coach e was totally on he wrong side of the bag to make hat call. He needed to be on the home plate side to see he ball got cut off sooner than expected and thrown the hold sign up.
