Yeah ... he couldn't run as a Democrat. There's a reason he never has.

While I've suggested in the past that Trump could have made a lot of mischief in a Democratic primary, it's probably correct that he could never have overcome the huge block of African-American voters and therefore would not have actually won a nomination. There's no comparable group in the GOP, except for the southern white bloc I described a little earlier.

The message of "everything sucks", coming from a charismatic enough candidate, is going to get you well into the door of either party. And the anti-free trade, anti-elite, pro-spending on infrastructure part of the Trump message probably would have been no less well-received in a Democratic primary.

Wow, this is insane even for him.
ALEX JONES (HOST): I'm never a lesser of two evils person, but with Hillary, there's not even the same universe. She is an abject, psychopathic, demon from Hell that as soon as she gets into power is going to try to destroy the planet. I'm sure of that, and people around her say she's so dark now, and so evil, and so possessed that they are having nightmares, they're freaking out. Folks let me just tell you something, and if media wants to go with this, that's fine. There are dozens of videos and photos of Obama having flies land on him, indoors, at all times of year, and he'll be next to a hundred people and no one has flies on them. Hillary, reportedly, I mean, I was told by people around her that they think she's demon-possessed, okay? I'm just going to go ahead and say it, okay?

They said that they're scared. That's why when I see her when kids are by her, I actually get scared myself, with a child -- with that big rubber face and that -- I mean this woman is dangerous, ladies and gentleman. I'm telling you, she is a demon. This is Biblical. She's going to launch a nuclear war. The Russians are scared of her.

[...]

Imagine how bad she smells, man? I'm told her and Obama, just stink, stink, stink, stink. You can't wash that evil off, man. Told there's a rotten smell around Hillary. I'm not kidding, people say, they say -- folks, I've been told this by high up folks. They say listen, Obama and Hillary both smell like sulfur. I never said this because the media will go crazy with it, but I've talked to people that are in protective details, they're scared of her. And they say listen, she's a frickin' demon and she stinks and so does Obama. I go, like what? Sulfur. They smell like Hell.

I'm sure everyone can fall just as easily for charisma, but it wouldn't be Trump's brand that worked. An incompetent faux-intellectual, sure, but not a dude who spends 23 hours a day actively trying to convince everyone he has the biggest dick.

I highly doubt the end is truly nigh for the conservative movement. But this article/opinion piece does a pretty good job summarizing how we got here.

These people are from families in towns that were mostly manufacturing-based, so the steel mill or the car plant or whatever. It was their birth right to do fuck all in high school except play linebacker and drink beer and then graduate (or not) and go work at the factory on the edge of town.

Those days are gone, and these people are losing their minds. All you have to do is look at West Virginia to understand what's going on in uneducated white America. Used to be a firm, staunch Blue State, but has morphed into Trump Country over the last 10 years.

All this stuff about quotas and college and all that... Not the main issue.
I think this discussion stemmed from sancarlos' friend who he thought was liberal in California but is supporting Trump.

and as for the tweets above. Trump is fighting the establishment, including his own party. He would be doing the same if he was running as a democrat. He really could run on either side.

A guy on CNN said "Trump has circled the wagons and now he's firing inward."

Are you guys watching anything?

Beck has slowly been making more and more sense in the last year or so. I wonder if he was becoming more sane as an attempt to save his failing media network, or if his sane opinions drove away his audience. OTOH, his network employs that Tomi Lahren, so he is still willing to put insane shock value first.

Speaking of Tomi, I was watching Tosh.0 the other day, and he interviewed someone acting as a Hannity parody. They kept interrupting with a hot blond chick doing a great Tomi parody. She killed it.

Unfortunately, you'll be disappointed. She doesn't laugh at the girl. She chuckles when saying that her client's passing of a lie detector test ruined her faith in lie detectors.

I forgot how great Ben Carson is. He is blaming the pussy grabbing comment on people who haven't heard other people brag about sexually assaulting women. The key everyone defending Trump seems to miss, is where Carson says he heard this talk "all the time" "when I was growing up." Sure, high school boys brag about shit like this to hide their insecurities or seek attention, but it stops being cute at some point between 18 - 60 years old.

Johnnie, when you say you and your friends talk like this, is it describing consensual sex, or bragging about sexual assault on unwilling married women? Big difference.

And I'm pretty sure those polls were conducted over the weekend, meaning a good chunk of those contacted either hadn't seen the tape or the blowback hadn't truly ramped up.

It's the graphic words used to describe sexual interactions. Trump went right to "I'm famous and powerful and I can do what I want. So I did." That stereotype is everywhere. Movies, music, tv etc. Now does the average dude get that leeway? Probably not, but the tone used to describe the interactions are the same.

I've known dudes that always told the story or stories of what a girl does when she gets drunk. "All you have to do is get her drunk and you can do what you want.." and so forth. Plus there has always been the saying in the military "What goes TDY stays TDY." TDY is an initialism for "temporary duty" -- a business trip to somewhere. Like, let's say, Las Vegas for two weeks to participate in Red Flag. 2 weeks away from the wife so, hey..."What goes tdy, stays tdy..."

So, maybe it was consensual sex, maybe it was consensual after a few drinks. Who knows the truth. It's crude and craven. It's pig behavior. But it's not something I'm going to flip out about though. And it's certainly stuff I've heard from numerous people.

That all being said. It's stuff like that which has undoubtedly put the military under a microscope for sexual assaults DoD wide. I get it, but of course the mandatory military training I go to boils it down to "Men are rapists in waiting. Words eventually equal actions which are certainly sexual assault or rape. Also, ladies, watch what you wear and don't do anything dumb."

Oh, and one other thing. Didn't we all laugh at the joking nature of "Cock. In. Hand." once upon a time? So we've also kinda endorsed shit like this here too, guys.

The Canadian 2nd in command last year said in a national interview that sexual misconduct is an issue in the military because "we're biologically wired in a certain way and there will be those who believe it is a reasonable thing to press themselves and their desires on others. It's not the way it should be." He had to resign.

To the moral crusader preaching rape culture in this whole scenario, there is no difference.

And that's my point. Of course actions committed by someone is far worse than banter, but the real issue is the entitlement that you can do something because you're rich, famous, and powerful -- so it gives you the right.

If he expounded upon just who he grabbed and if that was just an exaggeration or not. I'm willing to bet not, but he said "can" and not "did." Nancy O'Dell going furniture shopping and turning him down and the girl who's pussy he can grab may not be one in the same.

I don't think anyone will argue with your take on entitlement to commit sexual assault or something much less heinous for that matter. The video clip just demonstrates Trumps M.O. Maybe if he actually apologized people wouldn't be jumping ship right and left. Maybe if it was just the words without the addendum of his entitlement it's not as big a deal to the GOP establishment either. Personally, I think that the GOP has been looking for an answer to jump off and try to save their down-ticket candidates and this was a perfect opportunity.

People like Trump feel that they can do anything because of who they think they are. Many of his supporters love this about him, because of the strength of his ego he's going to clean up Washington, get companies to move back to the heartland, and get the Mooslims to all take Jesus as their lord and saviour.

Perhaps if he was less of a blowhard, and actually had some substance to his mantra of returning greatness he'd have this blow over, instead he doubles down on bullshit. Maybe not, but as Trump is one to point out, Clinton had many sexual skeletons in his closet but won because he an actual plan rather just loud words.
