NFL Week 7
We can expect the Jared Goff era to begin after the Rams bye week.

Just now someone somewhere on the field was picked up on the field mic saying very loudly "IT'S A FUCKING SLANT!"

Is it just me or is there a lot of bad football being played in the early games today?

The EIGHTH turnover in the Minny-Philly game is proving your point.

If you want to anger a large midwesterner, make sure your airport bar remote is broken and all TVs are stuck on MLS during the NFL.

Yes, poor LeGarrette Blount cut by the mean Steelers. Fuck you Nantz.

I wish my team could kill clock as effectively as the Steelers did during their 2-minute drill.

That Dan Quinn should look up the word "hubris" in the dictionary. That 4th down play was Mike Smithian in its absolute idiocy.
And fuck the god damned Bills.

Re: NFL Week 7
I strongly disagree with this. In that scenario, given the overtime format, the fact that Atlanta's defense gave up 30 in regulation (including scores on the Chargers' last 3 drives), and the fact that Atlanta averaged 5 yards/carry for the game, I think going for the first down was absolutely the right call. Obviously it didn't work out, but I'd hardly call what was at worst a 50-50 call an example of "hubris."Pruitt wrote:That Dan Quinn should look up the word "hubris" in the dictionary. Maybe, but the Chargers got the ball 5-10 yards from field goal range. Simply too great a gamble. You punt and they need to go 40 yards.Joe K wrote:I strongly disagree with this. Re: NFL Week 7
Yeah, but in evaluating the decision you also need to factor in the significant chance that Atlanta ends up with points on that drive if they convert the 4th down play. Atlanta's offense had been much better than their defense in that game so I don't mind giving the offense the opportunity to go for the points.Pruitt wrote:Maybe, but the Chargers got the ball 5-10 yards from field goal range. Re: NFL Week 7
If Atlanta makes it, they still need 50 yards for a winning TD. about 20 yards to take the lead. Failing, the Chargers only need 5-10 to win. I think that risk is too high. It's the Chargers. Punt it to them and they will fuck up.Joe K wrote:Yeah, but in evaluating the decision you also need to factor in the significant chance that Atlanta ends up with points on that drive if they convert the 4th down play. Re: NFL Week 7
Not to scare anyone but the odds of Hillary losing the election in two weeks are roughly akin to...an NFL kicker missing a 30-yard FG. Which just happened twice in about 4 minutes.

Unwatchable. That game was just unwatchable.
We dvr'ed it...and when we got to half-time my GF said "I can't watch this anymore". I looked at the score online and saw that it was still 3-0 with 4 minutes left, so we watched the rest of the game.
Awful...brutal...ugly....not entertaining at all. And they wonder why their ratings are down.

I put up with all of regulation but decided that was enough and went to sleep. I'm the sports version of the guy who was with Trump until two weeks ago.

Re: NFL Week 7
I'm confident that the way the Steelers pass-blocked yesterday, Ben would have completely shredded that team. With all the Steelers had going against them, I'd be embarrassed to be a Patriot fan after that. I mean I'd be embarrassed to be a Patriot fan in general but even more so after that. Can't Simms just go out on the field and literally start sucking their dicks instead of exposing us to a 3 hour love story every time? Is that allowed?

Re: NFL Week 7
There are going to be defensive struggles, a one off.
I thought overall yesterday's games were quite good. Jets came back, Dolphins came back. Chargers came back. Detroit won at the death.

This is as much due to the Lions defense barfing away leads late in games as anything, but still. Pretty impressive considering he's only 28.
