See I'm not even scared for myself personally. Of course it's a shitty look for the country, and tangibly shitty for tons of good people, but mostly I'm just scared that he and his constituency get to say they won.

This is where my brain stays fairly calm.

But, what kind of villains would be chosen to serve in a Trump Cabinet?

Not at all scared...as I've said before; the system is bigger than any one person...even if that person is Trump.

If HRC wins...we're stuck with at least four more years of hate/gridlock (worse than the previous eight years). Not looking forward to that, but it's a known quantity.

If Trump wins, it will be an interesting social and political experiment. Trump is an egomanical, narcissistic twit who will have no interest in actually governing. He'll farm that out the crackpot surrogates we've all been dealing with for the past 15 months. They'll attempt to put their policies in place; some will make it, some won't. Those that do will fail...he'll get voted out in 2020 because the uneducated white voters who thought their lives would get better (they won't) will turn on him faster than greased hog sliding down a wet chute. And the conservative movement will never win another election until they figure out how to lighten up on the social/women's issues.

So yeah...I'm pretty hopeful because I believe in the long term effects.

Baby, you're so fine I'm gonna let Trump be my president just so I can be with you.

I might try that if everything else goes to shit tomorrow night.

Funny you should ask...
Among the names being considered, according to conversations with three campaign advisers who requested anonymity to speak freely: Rudy Giuliani for attorney general, Newt Gingrich for secretary of state, retired Lt. Gen Michael Flynn for defense secretary or national security adviser, Trump finance chairman Steve Mnuchin for Treasury secretary, and Republican National Committee finance chair Lew Eisenberg for commerce secretary.

Sure, but if Trump has a majority in both houses of Congress, which would be likely if he was able to get enough Republicans willing to vote for him to the polls. I don't think Trump gives a fuck about anything related to the Supreme Court except as it personally affects him and his business interests. If he is remotely involved in the nomination decisions, he will want extremely pro-business Justices, so Citizens United ain't going anywhere, he will want Justices willing to allow him to carve a chunk out of the First Amendment so he can punish anyone who criticizes him.* Trump has said several time that the first thing he will do as President is make it easier to sue people for negative press. Most likely, Trump's decision makers will push through extreme hard Right Justices, and a Republican Congress would confirm. What often gets overlooked is that the President also appoints Federal District Court Judges and Circuit Court Judges. There are currently 800-900 Federal Judges/Justices, and 102 vacancies due to Republicans blocking Obama from filling these vacancies. Pretty disgusting that 10% of the positions for federal judges are vacant due to partisan bullshit, especially with a grossly overwhelmed judicial system.

TL:DR- If Trump wins, he likely has a Republican controlled House and Senate. Trump will quickly gain control over the Judicial branch. The currently vacant seat gives the Court a Conservative majority, and there could be 4 Justice appointments in the next 4 years. Would anyone be surprised if Trump tries to add a few seats to the Supreme Court? Trump will also get to nominate 100s of Federal judges, and they will be pro-business/anti-individual rights, and probably far Right to appease the Republican majority in Congress.

(Remember when the Right went nuts that Obama would shut down media outlets that criticized him? The pundits, especially O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh, ranted for months that if Obama beat McCain, you'd never be able to listen to them again. They continued saying Obama can't handle criticism for years.)

I think it is pretty crazy that our friends over the pond have the names 'Clinton' and 'Trump' on their voting cards in the first place.

It is like us having Alan Sugar and Boris Johnson as our only candidates over here... After Brexit, I believe anything is possible when it comes to the popular vote, especially if the campaign is negative and full of hate.

For me it is political porn: A toss up over a pair of cunts!

I'm still convinced that 80% of DJT supporters are all bark and no action. They're the guys who are contrarian just for the flash. Obviously my view is skewed younger, but even my staunch conservative friends are plastering nevertrump shit all over social media today.

Time will tell, but I'm not worried.

Worried about what happens next? Yes. But not of the results today.

Eh, I think I put 4 yesterday. But like Ryan, it's because 3 isn't an option.

I'm lucky enough to be a white male in the military. And I'm personable enough to have friends from all walks. I get the instant prejudgment cred of "ah, he's not a liberal" and play into that.

Ultimately, I dislike the bravado shared in this Instagram messaging group with my buddies with all the anti Hillary memes, but I know these people aren't going to risk jail time to start the next revolution.

Scared enough that I decided to swallow my discomfort with talking to strangers and signed up to do calls for the Hillary campaign.

I called 10 numbers in North Carolina and Nevada. Exactly 0 people answered the phone.

You're right. I should have voted Hillary. Me and the other 50k in Kentucky who voted for the third party. Then trump only wins by 20 percent.

Seriously. My sympathy is with you and your family.

I think Scandinavia has a lot going for it. The many positives are well known to you I imagine.

I don't know about the path to citizenship or residency. But it may not be so oriented to how much you can invest in a business, an avenue you've no doubt run into in Canada (and The Land of the Free).

I recently heard an interesting story about Denmark. I was talking with some new friends as to how they ended up running a restaurant in Michigan, given that they are from North Africa and England and moved here from Copenhagen.

The short answer was their kids. They found Denmark remarkably free of explicit racism. Admirably so, in contrast to, for example, England (where they had previously lived). At least as free of explicit racism as their new home here, where they moved without knowing anyone, partly on this basis.

They believed their kids could grow up in Denmark and be fine. But also that a substantial part of the Danish population would never really consider them 'truly' Danish, despite it being their birth place. They preferred that their children -- now young adults -- grow up in a country where there had been so much immigration, going back to the nation's origins, from so many places, that there was little of this kind of sentiment. Where their children, and most definitely the next generation, would be considered 'true' Americans by the vast majority (especially among the highly educated, which the kids very much are). We have little of this more subtle form of racism, the kind that wouldn't even count in this category for most people.

It's an interesting point, that I had never considered. Race can be so much more complex than typically given credit here.
