Nice long obituary from the Miami Herald: Fidel Castro is dead
Re: Fidel Castro

People of my age remember how Francisco Franco's last breath took about a year. Old school dictator deaths.brian wrote:And Cuba was sitting on it? Not sure to what end.sancarlos wrote:Did anybody else think he was already dead?

Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Oiler is on a plane to Havana this morning. All of these years, and no one thought to plan a trip for him to Cuba as the means to this end.

Re: Fidel Castro
Not so much. His grandfather was 100% Cuban, IIRC. I may have that wrong, and it may be more than just one grandparent that was Cuban. His parents planned this trip months ago, and voila!, Castro dies.

Re: Fidel Castro
I didn't know Oiler was (part) Cuban. I guess all I needed to do is look at him; he sure looks Cuban.

His parents are very Ybor City (mix of Cuban, Sicilian, Italian). Oddly, his dad always reminded me of Tom Bosley, and he looks just as white bread as you would imagine based on that description.howard wrote:I didn't know Oiler was (part) Cuban.
