NFL - Week 13
Jeff Fisher got a contract extension....Jeff Fisher....got a contract extension. The guy about the become the losingest coach in NFL history, who has 6 winning seasons in 22 years....got a contract extension. Trying to kill the Rams in LA before there's even the new stadium?

I mean, I can understand it.
He's one of the top 7-9 coaches in the league.

Re: NFL - Week 13
I gotta get a win and have one team lose to sneak into playoffs. And also not have him outscore me in a loss
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.

Detroit's NFL-record streak of games decided by 7 or less is over. No complaints today. Best game Lions have played all season. First game of Drew Brees career with 0 TDs and 3 INTs

Matthew Stafford MVP Candidate? First Lions win all year they didn't have to comeback to win. In the year of streaks and curses ending, maybe it's the Lions time.brian wrote:Detroit's NFL-record streak of games decided by 7 or less is over. No complaints today. This Steelers - Giants game has not been aesthetically pleasing, but I'm happy with the outcome. Both teams, but especially the Giants, have squandered a ton of opportunities.
Totally Kafkaesque

Fire the fucking Ryans.
Don't fucking sign that piece of shit Taylor.
God damn it. I've been watching this misbegotten franchise for at least a decade too long.

Jeff Fisher's agent is Marvin Demoff. Marvin's son is Kevin Demoff, the VP of operations & COO of the Rams.sancarlos wrote:Makes no sense.rass wrote:

Fisher's record for losses, whatever the final number lands at, might never be broken. That seriously might be one of the most untouchable records in football. It took two incompetent front offices for him to even get to this point.

Riverboat Ron. Why was Derek Anderson in there?

This graphic was flashed during the game: (add a loss to Fisher and win to Belichick)brian wrote:Fisher's record for losses, whatever the final number lands at, might never be broken. Makes all the sense in the world to me now.Rivera, who grew up in a military family, said that he benched Newton because he would have punished any player on the team in the same way.

Re: NFL - Week 13
Benching Newton was incomprehensible, but its not really Derek Anderson's fault on the interception. Ball hit the RB right in the hands.Rush2112 wrote:What makes no sense is sitting the reigning MVP for a series because of dress code violation.sancarlos wrote: Makes no sense.
And the Panthers weren't going to win that game. They look completely checked out on the season.

Re: NFL - Week 13
Am I crazy, or does Rivera's move smack of a coach looking to get fired?

To me, it smells of a coach enforcing team rules.Pruitt wrote:Am I crazy, or does Rivera's move smack of a coach looking to get fired?
I don't get the uproar over this, but whatever. It won't be the first time I don't understand why people are getting in a huff when someone is disciplined for failing to follow rules.
THERE’S NOWT WRONG WITH GALA LUNCHEONS, LAD!
Re: NFL - Week 13
It's not like he benched him for the game. If you can't trust your backup QB to not make a back-breaking play 30 seconds into the game why is he your backup in the first place? If Newton had had to go out for a couple of plays because of an equipment issue are we even having this asinine discussion?

It smacks of a person using military logic to dole out punishment to look like he's in charge.Pruitt wrote:Am I crazy, or does Rivera's move smack of a coach looking to get fired?
Cam didn't wear a tie on a plane ride because he was wearing a turtleneck. This is ridiculous. Heaven forbid you don't appease the fashion gods at 35,000 ft in a steel tube with no one but your teammates around.

You don't see Luck or Rodgers or Brady being sat by their coaches for not wearing a tie.Sabo wrote:To me, it smells of a coach enforcing team rules.Pruitt wrote:Am I crazy, or does Rivera's move smack of a coach looking to get fired?

It's because he is black, right?

Welker missed the first drive of a playoff game because he made foot jokes. If the Panthers were 8-4, I wouldn't have asked. But this season got away from him early. Lot of nice landing spots coming up in February.
It's a very Mangini-esque sort of move.
