While this sounded bad at first, but it's better he gets minutes. Hopefully a midtable team grabs him, so he gets minutes leading up to the World Cup.

But the reason he moved was because he wanted to play in Europe. Only thing I can think of is Spurs think they can get some $ for him from a mid-tier Champions League team or he will be a late transfer season pickup by a big club that missed out on bigger names (because everyone is going to Munich)

He didn't get all that much time at Spurs, I don't see him starting for a bigger club. Maybe a bigger club would want him for depth, but that's not good for the USMNT! Why won't anyone think of the Von Trapps?

Maybe Arsenal are brilliant afterall. I've been hoping the Suarez bids were a sham to make Real deal Higuain, and one report bears this out, as Real are allegedly set to bid 40 Million pounds to trump Arsenal's second bid of 35 Mil. If Real sign Suarez, they'll be a lot more willing to part ways with Higuain. Then again, it;s an easy narrative, and some reporter could just be making it all up. Fucking journalism and it's deceasedness.

I seriously need Arsenal to sign a big name striker before I have an aneurysm. Benteke, Jovetic, Rooney, I don't even care, as long as it isn't Suarez and his Anne Hathaway-looking horse teeth. Not to mention his 10 game suspension.

Spurs close to signing Roberto Soldado.

As a Spurs fan I am thrilled, as someone who also likes the city of Valencia, I feel real pity for the team. Here is the 3rd or 4th biggest team in La Liga so broke that it has to sell its hometown hero.

Looks like Higuain to Napoli is official. Fuck. I'd love to know what really happened with Arsenal's bid for Higain. They are starting to look desperate in their ludicrous bids for Suarez. doesn't he have a 10 game suspension?

Holy fuck. Dempsey expected to be signing with Seattle? I feel like I've been punched in the gut. I have loved watching Dempsey succeed in the EPL. Why would he throw his career away in his prime? Such a waste.

Well that explains why he held out of Fulham...He really wanted to play in European competition.

Soccer Insider is reporting that DC United will trade Charlie Davies rights to New England and then New England will get CD #9 on loan from Randers where he had been making the 18 but not getting on the field (no goals in 25 appearances/4 starts last year).

Guess we can trade all of our Fulham gear for Stoke as Juan Agudelo singed a pre-contract deal and will join the EPL in January (and the Championship next fall)

Spurs nab French holding midfielder Etienne Caboue.

I have never heard of him, but clearly Scott Parker will have to be content with Carling Cup action.

Starting to look like Bale to Real Madrid is a done deal. 100 million Euros, which would be a new record if the deal goes through.

Arsenal finally pull the trigger and splash their war chest! On another Free transfer. Glad to bring Flamini back for some bench depth, but fuck this summer has been frustrating.

You just got your wish. Mesut Ozil to Arsenal for £42.4 million. Fantastic signing for Arsenal.

EDITED to update the transfer fee.

I mean, wow. I won't believe anything until it's actually on the club website, but if true, my god what a signing. If, by the end of the day, we get Ozil on a permanent deal, a loan move for Demba Ba and a backup keeper, there's very little to complain about. Ozil is the kind of player we've missed since losing Cesc and, when fit, our attack would be as good as anyone in the league. I'd still like to see a right-sided central defender to allow for greater depth there and at right back (as good as he has been filling in, Sagna should not be a centre half option), but with Vermaelen back after the international break, I suspect that won't happen. Still, this should keep us in the hunt and we can maybe use January to fill in any gaps.

Yep. Pretty much every site confirming it, but I trust nothing. Higuain was all but confirmed to Arsenal. Goal.com reporting Ozil has already undergone a medical evaluation in Germany. We can hope. I just wonder who he replaces in the lineup. Rosicky, I suppose? Does he play a similar role as Cazorla? I've seen a lot of his highlights, but haven;t seen many games he played in, probably none since the last World Cup. Still, excited and optimistic, as it's great to see a big name player coming in rather than leaving.

The OFFICIAL Arsenal site now confirming the loan move for goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano. All I know is that he is owned by a Serie B team, but started on loan for Fiorentina last year. Not sure if he is set to replace Szczesny as the No. 1, but I would think that is the idea, as Fabiano is a quality #2.

The idiocy of waiting until the last day. Either you pay too much (Fellaini) or it gets tied up in red tape and/or indecision (Herrera).

They didn't need one with Fergie and Gill, but United needs a Director of Football/fit your title here at this point.

It's official, MFers! Wenger pulls the trigger, smashes his transfer fee record, and we have Ozil! I really wanted a striker, but I'm happy to get a big signing done. This was one I never even bothered to read about the rumors. Not that there was much talk about it, more lumping Ozil with 4 other Madrid targets. At least Giroud is on fire, but we have absolutely no depth at striker, unless Walcott or Podolski would be put up top, but I don't think either one of them could play as a lone striker.

everton did a nice bit of business this evening. signing mccarthy, and bringing berry and lu-ka-ka--ku-ku-ku on loan after selling fellaini to mufc and anichebe to wba.

they replaced both at midfield and attack, and bolstered their d. hopefully they can go on to win a match this season.

Tom Ince remains with the Seasiders. There had been some talk he was going to either Tottenham or Everton for £8 million with him being returned to Blackpool on loan for the season. Blackpool signed striker Nathan Tyson on a one-year deal with an option for a second year, and also got right back Bradley Orr from Blackburn on a four-month loan deal.

Arsenal fan converts an old jersey to an Ozil jersey.

Image

ETA: Damnit, not sure why this won't display. Anywho, it is an old O2 jersey with the 2 dots over the O, and an "il" after the 2, so it looks like Ozil.

Intrigued by Kei Kamara going to Boro. Frees up room for CJ Sapong to get playing time, helps with the salary cap, makes them some money and a nice move for the striker from Sierra Leone.

Only the fourth silliest Beckham they could've signed. (Brooklyn has a weak left; but the little girl does show some promise.)

Brooklyn was part of the Galaxy Academy and had trials with QPR and Chelsea.
