Cabrera's 450th HR yesterday put him in this club. Guys with a .320 career BA, 2,500+ hits, 450+ HRs and 1500+ RBI.

Well, this did happen at a Cardinals game this week:
Police are investigating after a woman attending a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game at Busch Stadium was struck by a stray bullet.

Police say the 34-year-old victim was inside the ballpark Tuesday during the game against the Milwaukee Brewers when she felt pain in her arm. She went to a first-aid station for treatment. A bullet was later found near her seat.

Police believe the bullet came from outside the stadium.
The scene where they believe the bullet may have been fired from isn't even that close to Busch Stadium -- it's about a mile away. But St. Louis has way too many people who just fire their guns off into the air (I hear a ton of celebratory fire on New Year's and July 4th, for example), and I'm actually surprised this type of accident isn't more common here. But getting hit with a random falling bullet while sitting behind the Cardinals' dugout is pretty nuts.

Maybe it was the Cardinals in-house security guy shooting out all the players' tires and one bullet ricocheted?

I miss the billboards that would appear every December in LA to ask people not to shoot their guns into the air on New Year's because "what goes up must come down".

And some of the national talking heads are trying to make a big deal out of it in a negative way. Isn't a slow homerun trot the kind of non-violent response that should be applauded. Fuck, people are weird about baseball and unwritten rules and shit. If I was Machado, I may have moonwalked the entire trip around the bases.

Comparing Aprils to Oranges here but...

Leaguewide batting average at a cool .248 right now. Fewer non-HR hits per game than any year ever.

I think the next media type who complains about unwritten rules and "playing the right way" (code for not being Latino or black) needs a Chapman fastball aimed at their noggin.

MLB is having real issues on my end, anyway, with the at bat app this year. Cubs/Yankees game not live for gameday yet on phone or computer. That has happened a LOT this year for a variety of games.

It was Greenberg this morning that was being all weird about it. Maybe he was just trying to be controversial but he sounded like more of a tool than usual with it.

Like much of technology, particularly streaming internet, MLB At Bat worked just fine a couple of years ago, but with greater complexity and crapification, it is going downhill fast. I am having issues more and more often.

K-Rod not feeling too good about his closer role in Detroit, either, I bet.

There will be "discussions" about what to do with the closer spot. If only Ausmus would hold an opinion of any merit.

you'd think forcing batters to hit the other way against the shift would reduce strikeouts.

No one tries to teach this, from some things I've read. I'd have to try to find them, but the gist was that teams prefer to leverage the natural swing and go from there. Less Joey Vottos, more Mashers.

I'm positive we've done this here, but "just go the other way" is a real way to fuck up interest in baseball. No one wants to watch a parade of guys who can't hit like Jeter/Gwynn/Boggs try to hit like those guys.

Yeah, I've been of the mindset that if you want to gin up interest in the sport, you should do away with the shift entirely.

What's more exciting: the walk-off HR or the walk-off outfield assist? Right now, I vote the latter.

Want to see fireworks tonight? Tune into Jays-Braves. Jays have hit 7 batters in the first 3 games so far and broke Freeman's wrist. Pillar then called Motte a faggot and Bautista bat flipped after a solo home run that cut the lead to 8-4.

Braves throw at Bautista's head in the 1st inning tonight, guaranteed. Braves have won 3 games in the series, they don't really care about this one if it means fighting.

What did Pillar say? I assume it was 'faggot' or some variant, but of course it is difficult to find, pc and all.

This is might be deserving of its own thread, but listening to to Mike Schmidt and John Kruk has to be the worst audio experience in MLB. Is anyone even close to being that bad?
