I really don't like their new font in the printed logo, including where "Dolphins" is at the point of the collar.

Not sure how fair this account is, but if you're not a Mangini fan you'll probably enjoy this article (book excerpt).
The part with the legless vet was especially cringe-worthy.

Agreed. An interesting read all around and while I also don't knock his bonafides as an observer of locker room morale, it seems like a really short period of time in which to judge what being a Cleveland Brown was really like under Mangenius.rass wrote:Not sure how fair this account is, but if you're not a Mangini fan you'll probably enjoy this article (book excerpt).

Tuning in the Pats/Eagles game on NFL Network just out of curiosity mostly. NE on the first drive went six plays and 80 yards. All runs. I guess you don't need Hernandez and Gronkowski if you can do that.
Nice defense, Eagles. Sheesh. I know it's pre-season, but, damn.

And then Eagles behind Vick roll right back down the field and score on a long TD throw from Vick to Jackson. 5 plays 77 yards. Entertaining game for a fake one.

And then Pats roll right back again and score another TD. Brady throwing that one.
Note to self: don't draft Eagles defense.

Sanchize throws a pick 6 to a DL on the first series. Geno Smith gets hurt when he comes in..Gotta love the Jests.

I guess Minnesota doesn't have faith in Ponder. One interception and he's gone. Cassel did well taking over for him though. Haven't been paying attention to Minnesota's comings and goings this off season. Cassel is a good addition to a shitty qb roster, as he ain't that great either. But he could be the best that they have.

No starting QB plays much more than that in the opening preseason game.TheHumanComa wrote:I guess Minnesota doesn't have faith in Ponder. One interception and he's gone. Yeah, i know starting QBs don't play a lot in preseason. But usually they let them score a td or show some positive progress before pulling them. Two throws and he's out? The coaches got enough info out of that?govmentchedda wrote:No starting QB plays much more than that in the opening preseason game.TheHumanComa wrote:I guess Minnesota doesn't have faith in Ponder. I guess it was one possession and out for him. I'm not worried about Ponder getting hurt, the coaches shouldn't be either. Jesus will protect him.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
They'll miss Gronk's blocking at the edge, but they are a very good rushing team. They had the 7th best rushing attack last year.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
I'm not trying to suggest the Pats won't have a decent rushing game but trying to extrapolate anything from exhibitions AND previous seasons in the NFL is largely folly.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
When the offensive line is the same, you have RBs in their prime (or about to reach it.) and the fact that the Patriots have ranked in the top 15 all but two seasons and the top 10 a majority of the past decade I'm pretty sure that one can extrapolate that their rushing attack is going to good to very good.brian wrote:I'm not trying to suggest the Pats won't have a decent rushing game but trying to extrapolate anything from exhibitions AND previous seasons in the NFL is largely folly.

For the record, I wasn't predicting anything about the Pats' running game. Was just mostly chatting with myself while getting a few minutes to watch a little bit of it.

I don't think that's true. What info? If there's no competition for the position (and I assume Cassel is strictly backup to start the season), then some coaches will have a strict one- or two-series limit for certain starters. Chris Johnson had 2 carries yesterday and he was out.

It's very very simple. The reason that the Patriots are really good is the fact that Tom Brady is their QB. And the reason they have a good rushing attack is also that Tom Brady is their QB.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
So 2008's 6th ranked rushing attack was due to Brady standing on the sideline? His power knows no bounds.Icepenis wrote:It's very very simple. Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
That was 5 years ago. And they still had a pretty good passing attack that year. But if you want to fool yourself into thinking your team is currently really good for any other reason, it doesn't bother me.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
2008 is funny. Both Steelers fans and Patriot fans like to point to that year to prove either a) Brady is a system QB or b) it's something other than Tom Brady just being really good.
Against a weak schedule, with Moss and Welker one year removed from absolutely balling out, Cassel took a 16-0 team and went 11-5. The Steelers played them in '07 and '08, and that '08 team wasn't even close.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
I don't think Fisher cares a bit about what Kosar said. But I bet he cares a whole lot what his young (perhaps oversensitive) receivers say to the press. This looks to me like a coach getting out front and giving the press quotes so they don't chase down young players that are bound to say something stupid.Pruitt wrote:Jeff Fisher is a big baby.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
What was so wrong about Jeff Fisher responding as he did?

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
Further, Fisher is implicitly telling the team, "I've got your backs", and making it something to rally around. The guy has a deserved reputation as a coach who gets the most out of his players.Rams Fanny wrote:I don't think Fisher cares a bit about what Kosar said. Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
I know, I know - Fisher did the right thing for his players, but I also think that he may have been better served to just ignore what was said by Cleveland's homer announcer during a pre-season game. If he had, than no one outside of northern Ohio would have noticed.
And after watching the offending clips, I found that the reactions to Kosar's comments by others were ridiculous.
He was actually kind of funny, and for Bernie, oddly coherent.

Re: 2013 NFL Preseason
I've never heard a homer announcer suggest that the players parents should be embarrassed by how bad they are at football.
