Portnoy is still the face of Barstool but I don't think he's married. But you are kinda describing KFC.

I googled. Portnoy is definitely the one I'm thinking of. He's a Magary if he were less funny and desperately trying to get frat dudes to like him.
(I should say "was", I don't know if he still is. This is circa-2009/10.)

I agree. I find the majority of Barstool personalities to be pretty insufferable but PFT is a comedic genius. My favorite thing he's ever done is when he went to a GOP debate and asked Ben Carson if he would travel back in time and abort fetus Hitler.rass wrote:Because pft commenter might be a national treasure?

Somehow Portnoy isn't even the most annoying Patriots fan on that site. Their Patriots blogger, Jerry Thornton, is like 50 years old and he still insists on calling Bob Kraft "Mr. Kraft," like he's a child talking about his elementary school teacher.Ryan wrote:His public persona is now built around wanting to physically harm Roger Goodell in the name of the Patriots so I think you'd probably still like him lotsmister d wrote:I googled. Here's something that must have passed me by: When Johnnie suggested the name "Shreveport Ratchets" for one of the teams in our OOTP Baseball league, I was completely unfamiliar with that use of the term "ratchet." Even after reading through those entries, I'm still not sure that I do.

Ratchet is more ultra ghetto fabulous.
Basic is more extra regular boring.
I guess it comes down to style and personality.
White girls can be ratchet as fuck. Example: the Cassh Me Ousside girl. Black girls can be basic. Example, imo: Simone Biles

That song and video are pretty hilarious. I vaguely knew the term ratchet, but it wasn't until reading the Urban Dictionary definition that I realized it was a misheard version of "wretched." That's funny.Johnnie wrote:Having lived in that god forsaken shithole, I'm far too familiar with a level of ghetto fabulous that no one should ever be familiar with in the first place.

Why have people gone crazy over TEA?
Whenever I'm in a mall I see huge lineups at Teavana or David's Tea. That shit is expensive and pretty much flavorless. How did this happen? I thought the Red Rose type tea at supermarkets was already a step up. But now it's insane.
Tea is something they give away for free at Chinese restaurants. The other day I bought Artichoke Tea to make my wife horny(er) and it was $3 for 20 bags. I thought that was a ripoff.

$80 for 2 is pushing it for me. And that's usually a seafood buffet at a casino.

I know things advance. I understand how coffee for example went from $1 a cup to gourmet $5 a cup. The custom of sitting at a coffee shop has always had a sophisticated feel to it anyways. Cafe in Paris, Espresso in Rome etc... you are paying for the experience too.
But tea and bread and oil.. that's crazy.

Re: Cultural Blind Spots
In May, I went to the Teavana store at the fancy Stanford mall and bought my wife some teas for her birthday. You are so right about how overpriced it is! A lot of those teas contain less tea and mostly dried fruit! The mark-up must be enormous. (I'll admit that the hot young salesgirl played me for the dumb old fart that I am.)
The good news is that my wife loved her gift and noted that she would now try to recreate some of the teas herself with hibiscus, herbs and dried fruit.

There are different price points for all of those things though. Having access to more expensive varieties doesn't mean the cheap ones aren't still there.degenerasian wrote:Yes! that's true!mister d wrote:You can eat lots of bread and oil for free!
