Mikkeller sounds great - but SF is a ways from SC after an afternoon of drinking!

Is that the place we went to my first trip out? Next door to the restaurant with the amazing beer menu?

BTW, I had a Stickee Monkee last week. Wow, that was fucking awesome. Glad I tried one instead of waiting to let it age. Totally doesn't need it. It'll probably improve, but damn, it's great now. It's super hyped, but it was better than I expected.

ETA: This spell checking software is impressive. I wrote "Monkey," and it correctly suggested "Monkee."

Good memory! Refuge is the burger place with the big beer menu (Giff and I also dined there, earlier this year.) Ale Arsenal is right next door, and derives a chunk of their business from people waiting to get into the other place.

In news that could range from major to nothing, Sixpoint (who are mostly big-ish and not great) have hired away the Trillium head brewer.

Don't really want to start a new thread, but wanted to know if it would be a bad idea to go to the craft brewery place for lunch before I get a crown put on this afternoon. Do IPAs and novocaine mix?

Funny, I was at my dentist yesterday and he now stocks a mini-fridge with local crafts in the waiting area. Gonna go early next time.

Just an email from GABF. I go in and help sort some beer for a few hours and they give me a case of beer. Two shifts 2 cases and a GABF ticket!

Finally, a email list that I want to be on!

2 schools of thought here. First, novocaine is a topical/local anesthesia, so I don't think it would mix with the alcohol. Second, if I'm wrong, mixing alcohol and painkillers are ALWAYS a great idea.

Kinston's depressing to drive through. I didn't realize they had a hip brewery. Goldsboro's not much better. Good barbecue though.

Yeah. They live outside Goldsboro (near the Cliffs of the Neuse park), and it's...rural. Though I love all of the little roadside Mexican places.

He just retired from the USAF and they're looking to move to the Pittsburgh area, so I likely made my last trip down there this past summer.

Had this tasty brew with dinner last night. From Fairfield, CA - just east of Oakland where the Bay Area becomes the Central Valley.

Trillium is still as good as ever and I have a new favorite from them: DDH Fort Point Pale Ale. Lamplighter is very solid, only had their Major Tom which is a tier 2 NEIPA and its infuriatingly close to my old place. Aeronaut is even closer but the line was like 75 deep to get in because of capacity and didn't seem to be moving.

On the downside, both Maine Lunch and Lawson's Sip of Sunshine both paled (beer pun) in comparison to the stuff above. An ever-changing world, it is.

Well, they aren't actually collecting money just "pledges." I emailed the marketing director for the BA and he said that it's to up awareness, plus send out some free swag to people.

Saw it on a beer board, evidently, they have a beer mailing list to let you know what's coming in....and they get Lawson's regularly.

ETA: Am going Sip route for the homebrew, but going Triple Sip. 10% or so DIPA.
