Another dunk at that end of the court, on Antetokounmpo instead of by him, was probably more significant.

Man no one wants to play on Team Lebron at the all-star game.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
About 24 hours ago I asked a friend whether the Knicks would say no to LeBron for Kristaps + Noah. This kinda feels like my fault.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Now, don't get me wrong...they should not have blown the 7 point lead with 4 to play. But that was an instance of Lebron willing a team to victory. Clutch drive to tie it, huge three to tie it, block to keep it tied, buzzer beater to win.
48 minutes is too much, but it was a marker game. Cavs really needed to get a win against a good team.
(Jimmy butler was awesome and I REALLY wish the cavs had figured something out there.)

Sounds like Isaiah and change just went to the Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance. Good lord.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Straight salary dump by the Lakers. Cavs got younger and more athletic. And it’s hard to overstate how badly Isaiah was struggling and how much LeBron and Love seemed to hate him.
Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Twitter says this gives the Lakers two max slots next year. Does that mean the Cavs may have just helped LA sign LeBron?

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
The Cavs of the last month have been the most dysfunctional and apathetic pro team I’ve ever seen, so I’m not surprised they’re rolling the dice. But this is an insane day for Koby Altman. Overall, I think they did well but trading the majority of your rotation players in one day is nuts.
Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
I’m not even sure they’re done. They could potentially use JR and the Nets pick to swing another big deal.

This is insane! Am I wrong in thinking that it's over for the Cavs?

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
It’s definitely insane but I like their moves. Hill is a much better fit to play PG alongside LeBron than Thomas was. And they got a lot younger and more athletic by adding Hood, Nance and Clarkson. But I can’t think of any precedent for a team currently holding the 3-seed making such drastic moves.
Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Its really awesome. It would be like Nashville deciding they want to be forward-centric instead of D-centric and just overhauling the entire roster.

I think it both makes them better this year and also next year as well if lebron leaves or even if he stays.Joe K wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 1:36 pmIt’s definitely insane but I like their moves. [standard preface comment acknowledging I don't know NBA] But, shoving a bunch of mostly young guys, albeit talented guys, together with no preseason in which to jell, just seems like they are going to be playing like a playground pickup team for quite awhile, no?Joe K wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 1:36 pmIt’s definitely insane but I like their moves. At least they’d be a young, athletic pickup team as a opposed to a pickup team full of old guys who hate each other.sancarlos wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 1:44 pm[standard preface comment acknowledging I don't know NBA] But, shoving a bunch of mostly young guys, albeit talented guys, together with no preseason in which to jell, just seems like they are going to be playing like a playground pickup team for quite awhile, no?Joe K wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 1:36 pmIt’s definitely insane but I like their moves. Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Not sure how all of the incoming contracts work out, but it gives them a palatable team or at least some tradeable players for post-Lebron life.
Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
I've got $50,000 on LeBron gets hurt, Cavs miss the playoffs by a game, their lottery ball comes up first, Lakers can't use it, Cavs draft the Euro.

It's like the Cavs realized they needed some guys who can play perimeter defense.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
There’s obviously uncertainty inherent in such a drastic overhaul, but the Cavs potentially got better and younger while keeping the Nets pick. That’s a good result. And I don’t think they should be that worried about giving the Lakers’ cap room. The way things were deteriorating in Cleveland, it was becoming an unpalatable situation anyways. Maybe he wouldn’t have left for the Lakers, but teams like Houston or even Philly would have seemed pretty appealing.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Sad display by the Knicks tonight (understandable).
Lose by 25 to the Raptors on a night when Lowry and DeRozan combined for 4-21 shooting and 15 points.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
Oh look, two straight triple doubles for LeBron once the Cavs informed him they were trading away all the dead weight. Hmm...
ETA: The Raptors just moved into first place in the East. If that holds, the East Finals are going to feel pretty anticlimactic after LeBron harvests Kyrie's soul in the second round.

Hakeem's murder of David Robinson via the Dreamshake in the 1995 WCF is still the best single individual play in Rockets history. But last night Harden came close to taking over the top spot.

Re: NBA Basketball 2017/18
I can’t tell if you’re just trolling Giff or if this is another example of people going to great lengths to try to minimize Harden’s greatness. That was a dirty crossover, and Johnson didn’t lose his balance because of whatever light contact there was with Harden’s forearm. I’m curious about this year’s MVP vote totals because if traditional factors are considered, it should be unanimous. Harden is going to finish first in scoring and second in assists as the lone All-Star on a 65+ win team.
