To touch upon something Vin said the other night, remember those Dodgers that went on a 52-13 tear through the schedule? This ain't those Dodgers. They're 4-10 since then. This is the Dodgers of mid-April.

Dodgers have been resting a ton of injured players regularly: Puig, Hanley, Ethier, Crawford. Which means heavy doses of Nick Punto, Skip Schumaker, Jerry Hairston and Van Slyke. With Kemp back in the lineup, we should see less of the scrubs.

Though it does seem like the team has eased up a bit due to the large lead in the division.

Jerry Hairston, who is batting second today, is hitting .169/.221/.211 in the second half.

what are the tiebreaking scenarios in the NL Central? what if all 3 teams finish with the same record?

That would be crazy, so two teams who played each other in playoff 1 could play each other again 2 days later in the actual wildcard playoff.

Three-Club Tie for Division Championship & Two Wild Card Spots:
After Clubs have been assigned their A, B and C designations, Club A would host Club B on Monday, Sept. 30 (tentatively). The loser of the game would be declared one Wild Card Club. The winner of that game would then host Club C on Tuesday, Oct. 1 (tentatively) to determine the Division Champion. The loser of the game would be declared the other Wild Card Club.

And the loser of the first game would be at the advantage of not having to burn two pitchers.

Hey, Tigers magic number is down to 4. Still on the fence as to whether I'm rooting for the Indians to make the playoffs. On one hand, I can't stand the Indians or their fans. On the other, Texas and Tampa are way better teams. So, that's a toughie.

Fuck the Rangers. If you had to spend anytime around these bandwagoners, you'd root for the Indians in a heartbeat. It will make this crap season worth it if we can take 2 out of 3 next week.

Dodgers clinch the West!!

Hopefully we can get everyone at 100% for the NLDS. I don't want to see Hairston making anymore important ABs.

Dodgers clinch the West. (ETA: Woops! Keg got here first. Of course.) Break out the "first team to win a division after being in last place after such and such a date" remarkage. (They were in last up until the end of June; three weeks later they took over first.) Funny thing is, even with the win today, they still have a losing record against NL West teams (33-34). In fact, the only team in the West with a winning record within the West, at the moment, is the Giants (40-30).

The Dbacks had asked the Dodgers to celebrate in the clubhouse and not go out into the field if the clinched in AZ. The players said fuck that and went out to cannon ball the swimming pool in CF.

In this context, I hate Kirk Gibson more than I hate the Dodgers. Good for them cannonballing.

When I was a kid, and even as a young adult, I never figured I would see Lou Gehrig's career grand slam record of 23 bested. But I saw it, tonight. fucking A-Rod.

Another way to look at this game tonight--Timmy and bullpen combine for a 1-0 shutout. If game was played in any other MLB ballpark. But two routine fly balls to right turn into five runs in Yankee Stadium. Shitfuck.
