There’s a Tragically Hip cover band playing in the plaza on the Strip right outside T-Mobile. Flames fans must feel welcome.

NHL.com wrote:Seattle, which began a season ticket drive Thursday in its effort to become an NHL expansion team, received 10,000 deposits in 12 minutes and about 25,000 in total.
The ownership group applied to the NHL for an expansion team on Feb. 13. If Seattle is awarded an NHL team, its owners expect to announce final ticket prices in 2019.
The group, led by Jerry Bruckheimer, a Hollywood producer, David Bonderman, a private equity CEO, and Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group, was authorized Dec. 7 to file an application for expansion by the NHL Board of Governors. It paid a $10 million application fee, Sportsnet reported.
"Shell-shocked is best way to put it," Leiweke told TSN about the amount of deposits. "We sold 10,000 season tickets in 12 minutes and we're just short of 25,000 so I guess the fans have spoken. The fans in Seattle have made it a resounding vote which is they are ready for the National Hockey League. They are counting on us to bring the NHL here."
Apparently the WA Gov may have leaked the name at a press conference about high speed rail (Portland to Vancouver). The Totems (which was a WHL team back in time). It is one of the 13 names grabbed by the group redeveloping the arena.

I have zero hockey talk to add to this thread, but I want to say that Las Vegas is my probable landing spot after the military and working for the Golden Knights as a logistics guy (if such a position exists) sounds pretty cool.

From one of the outlets that covers the team:
UPDATE TO UPDATE: Gallant confirms Fleury flying to Denver tomorrow, which means you can safely assume he'll be starting that game since the game after that is in Vegas.
Apparently they're acting out of an abundance of caution (as they should), but it's possible Fleury might even fly to Denver to play as soon as Saturday.UPDATE: Multiple sources have confirmed Marc-Andre Fleury did go through concussion protocol Tuesday night. He passed protocol but was not inserted back in the game as a precautionary measure. The team still does not believe he suffered a concussion but remain cautious. Fleury is not with the team in San Jose. They have yet to rule out having him join the team in Denver. It remains unclear when he may return but the concern that it could be season ending is considered minimal.

By the way fam, win tonight clinches a 100-point season, a playoff berth and would just about clinch the Pacific Division (if not literally then in all probability). Vegas would have a 10-point lead with 8 to play and all potential tiebreakers over SJS.

Might just be my fandom talking here, but I don't think Vegas wins tonight. Sharks have won 5 in a row now, and will be energized for the Knights.

I don't think it clinches a playoff berth. St. Louis can still reach 103 and sit outside playoffs currently. All teams in playoff position now would pass VGK if they won all games and VGK lost all. We are 1 point from eliminating Dallas' from passing us but ST Louis is one that clinches.

But are there other game combinations that would prevent all others from winning all games?

Re: Welcome NHL Las Vegas
Crap, I think you're right. Even the VGK media account is wrong then. Well, they'll learn. (I wouldn't be completely averse to locking up the playoffs officially at home though I don't like the idea of SJ getting within 6 points. I could live with an OT loss tonight).Rams Fanny wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 4:28 pmI don't think it clinches a playoff berth. St. Louis can still reach 103 and sit outside playoffs currently. The Vegas media account might be right. Like AB said, every competitor can't each win all their games, because some of them are against each other.

Re: Welcome NHL Las Vegas
I checked around and usually the NHL PR website will post if a team can clinch a playoff berth with a win and they didn't have anything so think it might have to wait until Saturday. I'd rather have Fleury in net tonight and Subban going Saturday, but it is what it is. San Jose's playing really well lately so I don't like the chances of winning tonight, but if Vegas wins its last four home games, San Jose would need to run the table in its other games so I'll settle for focusing on that.
Vegas' schedule is also pretty easy the rest of the way with the exception of the home/road games again San Jose. (Colorado doesn't do much for me.)
ETA: @SJS, @COL, COL, ARI, STL, SJS, @VAN, @EDM, @CAL. Gotta take at least 11 points off that schedule if you're going to consider yourself a real Cup contender. That would be 110 points.

Re: Welcome NHL Las Vegas
Guess I shouldn't have worried too much about Subban. He was the reason Vegas stole a point last night.
Anyway, clinching scenario is relatively simple now. VGK win + STL or ANA or LA loss in regulation. STL and ANA play tonight so the good news is Vegas can maybe lock up its spot on the ice since it plays in the first game of the day on Saturday.

Pacific Division title probably gonna come down to that Western Canada dead man walking road trip to end the season — Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary.

As much as I'd like to argue the point, I don't think any Sharks fans think we have a realistic shot to overtake Vegas in the standings. But, 7 in a row right now is fun!
Maybe we'll match up in the second round. But, getting past Los Angeles or Anaheim in the first round will be exhausting, because both/either of those teams would be happy to turn a series into a roller derby street fight, and the Sharks aren't that kind of team.

This will only take 45 seconds of your life and it's worth it.
It's appropriate to hopefully clinch the playoffs at home tonight. Deserves to happen at T-Mobile. Of course, that doesn't mean Colorado is going to roll over just saying it's nice that it can happen at home.

Re: Welcome NHL Las Vegas
Got the playoff ticket information and there's a huge discount on ticket prices if you agree not to resell, which is awesome and a little unfortunate that they think it's necessary. (But still smart).
I'm pretty sure we could easily get double face even at the inflated ticket prices so anyone who needs to be that cold-blooded about it can't complain.

Kind of a weird experience watching a Knights game in an arena with almost no opposing fans. There seriously might not have been more than 400 or 500 Coyotes fans last night, less than even the home opener. When they Coyotes scored the sound of groaning was louder than any cheering you heard.
I think the optimal amount for maximum loudness is about 1,500 to 2,000 or so, which means the playoff games are going to be especially lit.

I guess it goes without saying, but if you guys get LA or Anaheim for the first round, there should be lots of opposing fans. St. Louis or Colorado, not so much. The Sharks are definitely getting LA or Anaheim, so there will be a solid contingent of their fans, which does add to the playoff tension. I really hate the LA fans at the Shark Tank when they win, but it makes it that much sweeter if the Sharks win.brian wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 10:46 am Kind of a weird experience watching a Knights game in an arena with almost no opposing fans. All true, though I think if it is LA or Anaheim, it'll still be limited to about 2,000 or so, maybe as many as 2,500 (out of 18K+). The interesting thing is that playoff tickets even on the resale market will probably be way cheaper in LA/Anaheim for a Vegas vs. LA/Anaheim series so I think you'll see a corresponding number of Vegas fans in LA/Anaheim for those games.sancarlos wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 11:05 amI guess it goes without saying, but if you guys get LA or Anaheim for the first round, there should be lots of opposing fans. ETA: Which it maybe goes without saying should make for a very exciting atmosphere.
ETAA: A potential Vegas/SJS series would be interesting too because you don't have the driveability, but flights to/from the Bay Area are usually no more than about $150 so could be the same kind of deal.

Nice ceremony to retire #58 last night. Think it was a good gesture by the team to never have anyone wear it. For good or bad, that number will always be associated with 1 October, so better to try and do something positive to remember the victims.
