I could see Vegas in the conference finals but I can't fathom them getting through unless Nashville and Winnipeg waste each other.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
First time since the change in playoff format in 2014 that none of the 4 Wildcard teams made the 2nd round. So we've got really good match ups.

I agree completely. Really looking forward to these matchups.

Vegas was 4-2 vs. Winnipeg and Nashville this year with one of the losses while Vegas was playing its fourth-string goalie.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
This isn't about the playoffs but I'll put this here.
Next year, San Jose is going to host the NHL All-Star game and skills contests. I can buy up to four strips (combo tickets to both events). Pre-sale for season ticket holders opens in less than an hour - but I don't necessarily get my regular seats, as this is an NHL event, not a Sharks event. Two strips are spoken for but two available if I want them. More expensive than I want to pay for myself. But, I'm tempted to buy the other two just so I can re-sell them. But, if I can't sell them I'd have to eat them. I'm a bit torn.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
My usual go-to for this is if I can sell for face to people I know as a backstop/worst case. In that case, I'd always get them even if I know I'm not going to get the money back for a few months.sancarlos wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:07 am This isn't about the playoffs but I'll put this here.

(If you think you should have no problem getting more than face on the secondary market, then it's a no-brainer. But I have no idea what the re-sale market is like for the NHL ASG.)

Yeah, my issue is that I have no idea what the re-sale market will be like. I think I'm going to roll the dice and do it, though.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
Out of curiosity, what's the face? I'm not saying I would for sure, but in a worst-case I might be interested in coming up for that at face if you're having issues selling. (Assuming face isn't completely ridiculous.)

I'm going to buy upper level seats. No guarantee on where they'll be, exactly. Here's a link with various prices/locations:brian wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:20 amOut of curiosity, what's the face? That's not too bad. I don't think you'd have much trouble selling at at least a small profit, but again not going to pretend like I know much about the market for those tickets.
If you're having trouble getting rid of them by the time next season starts, let us know.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
Granted. VGK could get swept by San Jose and it wouldn't be some kind of seismic upset. Just saying Vegas matches up very well with Winnipeg and Nashville. Winnipeg probably scares me more than Nashville at this point in a potential conference final.

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
This fucking franchise, man. This fucking team.
I put in WORK to get this god damn team out of my life this year. The last decade, I'd conservatively say I've watched around 80 percent of their games. Missed maybe one or two playoff games due to unavoidable conflicts. I've attended probably a dozen playoff games*, including multiple soul-crushing game 7 losses. But I kept dusting myself off, starting each new season with a hopeful optimism. (* - Just like Ovi scoring over 50 playoff games, my attendance record is noteworthy because this fucking team never makes a deep run.)
But losing to Pittsburgh two years ago stung. That was tough, but the team still had most of its talent coming back the next year, so I hung there. But there was the obvious tension of knowing the core talent was getting old. They were also going to need to dump payroll from the 3rd and 4th lines. And so they win the damn President's Trophy (and printed fucking t-shirts) and then, of course, lose to the Pens again.
And I was done. Not truly "done" but not doing my usual shit. I turned down free tickets, I stopped reading my favorite blogs... Shit, I couldn't have told you in February who was on the 3rd and 4th lines. I'm typically a guy my friends can ask who is likely coming up from Hershey at any given moment and knows who the scratches are that night.
Early on, I felt vindicated. They were playing like shit and losing a lot. Then, rather inexplicably, I heard out of the corner of my ear that they were on a bit of tear, making a move in the division. Nope, not this time Caps. I'm out! Grubauer having a season of his career? Don't care. Ovechkin putting shit in the back of the net like 2010? Fuck off.
And now they're losing two OT games at home? Good. This is going to make things very easy for me. I didn't watch a minute of this series until Game 4, and I watched that on DVR. Shit, these assholes tied the series. Fuck, now they're up 3-2 and from what I'm reading* they are playing their best hockey of the year, by far. (* - First massive sign I'd started to cave was hitting up Russian Machine Never Breaks.)
Last night was a completely dominating performance from the puck drop to the end. Which as a Caps fan that I just learned has had to endure more playoff OT games than any other franchise (something like 35 percent, and where they have a losing record), was a surreal experience. They so very rarely close teams out (obvi.)
So here we fucking are. Again. Fuck.

Well, it's done. First row of the upper bowl (just like my regular seats), but not as good of a section (sec 205, instead of 214). Fucking ticketmaster throws on a $20 per seat fee. What a business.brian wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:43 am That's not too bad. I can't for the life of me figure out why the NHL can't just announce the first couple of games/times for each of the Western Conference series even if they have to TBA the rest of the series until tomorrow or Thursday. It's maddening.

Yeah, it's frustrating. The NHL doesn't seem to understand that people need to have this information so they can plan their lives.

Oh, man. The city of Las Vegas has banned the color teal. Shit's getting real.
(This is only the third time in NHL history that a conference's final four teams are all seeking their first NHL title.)

That's cute. But, in reality, what are they going to do to a Shark fan who shows up at the game wearing a teal team sweater? Give him some ribbing? Sure. Anything more would surprise me.
eta: by the way, does Vegas also have the policy of restricting ticket sales to only purchasers that have credit card addresses in the local geographic area? I know Nashville and Tampa Bay have that policy. I read an article with Winnipeg fans bitching about it.

Yeah, it was just a gag. Pretty sure it's unconstitutional to literally ban a color.

Actually, we've been talking about this and I meant to ask our Tampa Bayans(?)... What DOES happen if you wear opposing colors? I went there once, but it was on a corporate trip (we also went to a Panthers game, easily the deadest barn I've ever entered) and weren't supposed to be wearing Caps gear.*

No restrictions based on zip, etc. though there were very few public tickets available anyway. Supposedly (according to the Knights) in the public presale, 71 percent of tickets were purchased from Nevada residents (12 percent from CA and the rest from AZ, UT and other states).sancarlos wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 2:29 pm

Re: 2018 NHL Playoffs
Pretty sure Tampa no longer restricts ticket sales to local addresses. That being said, there's very little left for non season ticket members to purchase. Lots of STMs renew for the playoffs, (it's super pricey, and I did not). They also send a code that allows STMs the ability to buy other playoff seats before the general public. I realize it's only New Jersey, but I went to game 1 and there were very few Jersey fans in attendance.sancarlos wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 2:29 pmThat's cute. I do think that opposing teams colors are still not allowed in club areas for the playoffs. And yes, full access to all the food and drink is very nice.

It'd be fun, but no I'm not coming down.
Let me know if you (or Rams Fanny) come up here for a game. I get seats to game four, and my daughter (who usually goes with me) works on Wednesday evening, so I might even have a ticket available if that is the game night, (and also depending on my wife's attitude about going)...
