3-0-11 is a line you’ll only see in HS baseball.

When my kid’s school is involved it does. His team was the visitor.

How big are the schools?
It always amazes me when smaller schools are a power in one sport or another. When I was in HS there was a softball team that had gone undefeated for like 8-9 years. I can understand at big or schools that can recruit, but this was D3 VT high school, schools that had 500 kids tops (and probably not that many really, I think we had 250 and were D4, have grown a bit and are now D3. The biggest school in the state has maybe 11-1200.)

3 runs with no hits and one opponent error? How many walks?

I think my son said the pitcher walked the first four batters. Then the error brought in the other two runs. Then he settled down and was dealing. The Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 11:04 pm3 runs with no hits and one opponent error? How many walks?
Rush, his school is pretty small (junior class is maybe 90 kids). They are not good at baseball, but the other team was just brutal.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I think it would have been fun to play for a team like one of those, where a regular guy could be an integral part of the team. My high school was a baseball powerhouse, won the state title my junior year, and sent several guys off with D-1 baseball scholarships. No playing time leftover for scrubs like me.bfj wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 6:09 amI think my son said the pitcher walked the first four batters. Then the error brought in the other two runs. Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
We were right about 90 as well, shitty enough for me to be on the team but good enough to never make double digit errors. And I got to play against (watch against) a mid-1st rounder.

Weird how many patriots become socialists when a player on their favorite team is negotiating a new contract.

Tom Brady just casually strolled into the chow hall in Al Udeid today.
My co-workers were eating lunch and protocol was like "Hey, you wanna meet Tom Brady?"
And I'm in Afghanistan getting pics of their selfies with him.
God fucking dammit.
Edit:
Here he is signing a bomb they dropped on Syria:

Whether one is a Brady fan or not, he deserves big props for doing that. And especially for not acting like a big shot about it.

Jon Stewart, Paige Van Sant, and Rip Hamilton are doing a USO thing in bagram at the end of this month.
I'll be back in Al Udeid by then. I can't fucking win on this deployment. I mean, I did get to see Mattis, but I couldn't take a pic with him.
But yea. A list celebs just don't do that kinda thing normally.

At least once a day the wife and I say very very awful things about his demise. Typically, we just hope it happens in a public setting so we can save it permanently on our DVR right next to the last inning of game 7 of the 2017 World Series.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
So, the guy who does the sports on the local ABC affiliate, Mike Shumann is a former 49er backup wide receiver. He played on the 1986 Super Bowl team, and is locally semi-famous. Always seemed like a good guy, smiling and joking on the air.
But, his reputation is mud, now. He was caught on-camera stealing the warmup jacket of the Warriors director of security the other night. The security guy is apparently a beloved guy and also Steph Curry's personal bodyguard, so the Warriors people got pretty pissed off. A Warriors assistant coach, Jarron Collins witnessed the theft and was the guy who apparently got the ball rolling by providing the tape evidence.
The SF Chronicle says Shumann has admitted guilt and is apologizing to everybody. But, I'll be shocked if he doesn't face some consequences.

Got into work at 8:30 and there was a trumpeter blowing outside our office. 11:00 and he's still going strong. Even busted out the anthem at one point.

Asked the wife to check out and clean up an ingrown hair on my back. She started to freak out. Turns out I had a tick, but not near the place that was sore. How the fuck did it get there? I am rarely outside.

A 7-lb ankle biter. Just weird that it attached to my back. I mean, I am hairy, but that tick was being a real jerk making fun of me like that.

I messed up at work due to deployment stressors and I didn't handle myself well in the face of adversity. So, I'm getting sent home early from my deployment.
Luckily it won't affect my long term career stuff.
But yea. I don't handle stress well. And I've learned my sister is on anxiety and depression meds, so after talking to her that may run in my family and I didn't know it. I'm going to talk to mental health when I get home.
This military thing has been difficult these last few years. I'm lucky I have a gf who cares about me.

Sorry to hear that.
It's smart that you're going to talk to someone about it when you get home. You'll probably find that there are coping strategies that will help you keep things under control without the need for meds. Good luck.

Wow, sorry to hear that, Johnnie. From what we know about you, you're a thoughtful, reasonable guy, so if this stress/anger/whatever is affecting you at work ... you're right to reach out for some outside help. Like Pruitt said, maybe just talking with someone and getting some advice/techniques is all it will take. Maybe not. Either way, it's important to get help.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
Sorry to hear that, Johnnie. Speaking from experience, talking to someone (including my family to find out if anyone else was on mental-health meds) was the best decision I ever made. It took me a while to feel like I was straightened out but I can say for certain the worst thing one can do is ignore the problem and try and power through on your own.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
Johnnie, going to a therapist has been one of the best things I've ever done in my life. Talking with her made me realize a lot of my stress was self induced, and she gave me strategies on how to cope. I made it clear with her early on I had no interest in taking meds for this, and she was agreeable to trying other therapies first. Fortunately just talking things over with her was enough. To get the most out of your sessions, you have to be honest with your therapist and yourself, which can be difficult.Johnnie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 30, 2018 2:49 am I messed up at work due to deployment stressors and I didn't handle myself well in the face of adversity. Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
It took a brutal panic attack to start to open my eyes. I can tell you that meditation has helped me considerably. Currently, I am experiencing incredibly elevated levels of stress and anxiety brought on by a couple of factors; one - the inevitability of aging - is a permanent condition while the other - work, or rather, a very fallow period - will pass.
But if it weren't for the coping strategies I discovered 18 months ago, I shudder to think of what a mess I'd be right now. Admitting that I was unable to control things was hard, but it was one of the wiser things I have ever done.
From this day forward Johnnie, it will only get better.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I hope it gets better. But I don't know exactly.
I may have spoke too soon with regards to long term career stuff. My home station commander can impose more punishment if he chooses. When I called back to my supervisor to break the news, he broke to me that my deployed commander called last week to my home station commander. So, yea. That doesn't bode well.
I thought this was going to be a fun time. Instead I was overburdened with stress and couldn't handle it. I don't know what to think at the moment.
But thank you both for the encouraging words. I talked to someone today and just went on for nearly 2 hours straight. After my punishment was levied this morning and I the therapy I felt fine and ready to come back. But then when I heard about my commander knowing, I'm all worked up again. I just feel bad.
