Trump will get the last laugh when Macron sees that his palm is still orange a month later.

That brothel photo is one of the greatest things I have seen in a long time. Which of course led to this, once someone explained the word "irony" to the brilliant grad of Wharton.
Our next federal election isn't until October of next year. But if it were this year, today's events would probably get Trudeau re-elected.

"Special Place In Hell"
But, but..."There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door," trade adviser Peter Navarro told Fox News.
No matter. Canada's on the shit list and Russia - only kicked out of the G8 because Obama let them invade Crimea, is a friend.Trudeau's comments only included statements he's previously made, the Prime Minister's Office pointed out in a statement, adding that Trudeau had made those remarks privately to Trump as well.
You'll be seeing this shot on "Trump 2020" campaign literature. Look at the brave man standing up to America's so-called allies.

Thanks to Trump, Canada has never been so united.

Harper too
Stephen Harper went on to say he doesn't understand the White House's trade obsession with Canada.
"Canada is the biggest single purchaser of U.S. goods and services in the world," he noted, stressing that the U.S. runs a trade surplus with Canada. "I don't think even Trump supporters think the Canadian trade relationship is a problem."

Canada makes a convenient target for low-information Trump supporters (which is largely but not entirely redundant) but the issue as always is the 20 percent of the GOP who aren’t drooling idiots. I realize Trump is popular with his base but he’s not doing anything to convince moderates and the GOP elites to support him in 2020 and that’s what carried the election for him in 2016.
I still don’t see a path to victory for him assuming he’s still in office if he’s alienating 60 percent of the electorate by shitting on our allies.

He's moved from the "easy" more traditional targets - Muslims, Latino Immigrants, the media - to new targets - NFL players, members of his own cabinet - to even more bizarre targets - Canada, western Europe.brian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 10:15 pm Canada makes a convenient target for low-information Trump supporters (which is largely but not entirely redundant) but the issue as always is the 20 percent of the GOP who aren’t drooling idiots. Yeah, to be clear, Canada doesn't make a logical target especially since the US runs a trade surplus with Canada, but still we're talking about idiots here (anyone who thinks that Canada is in any way, shape or form somehow to "blame" for trade disparity).Pruitt wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:17 amHe's moved from the "easy" more traditional targets - Muslims, Latino Immigrants, the media - to new targets - NFL players, members of his own cabinet - to even more bizarre targets - Canada, western Europe.brian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 10:15 pm Canada makes a convenient target for low-information Trump supporters (which is largely but not entirely redundant) but the issue as always is the 20 percent of the GOP who aren’t drooling idiots. The truly, truly, truly scary thing to think w/r/t these MAGA idiots is that the economy is actually booming. Imagine how many people might start believing Trump if we move into a recession. I think the saving grace there is that most moderates and/or relatively intelligent people realize if the economy starts to falter and we move into a recession it's actually going to be Trump's fault.

It means you gotta keep fighting, Brian. Like this Supreme Court decision today. They made it easier to remove voters from rolls. That means I'm going to be spending time in North and West Philly this summer getting voters re-upped so they vote for Democrats. Fight fire with fucking fire.

Re: The Indictment Thread (Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part II)
I was at a party the other night and had a discussion/debate with a couple pro-Trump guys about tariffs, VATs and import duties. (These guys are corporate execs, not mouth-breathing knuckle draggers.) They were all over me, claiming that because many of our allies already have one or both of the latter two taxes, Trump is just leveling the playing field by applying tariffs against imports from those countries. I argued (among other arguments) that consumption taxes like a VAT or an excise tax are quite different from tariffs because they are applied against all goods, including those manufactured in the same country, and that they aren't directed at specific producers. (Not to mention the offsetting and probably greater detrimental effect on US manufacturers of tit-for-tat reprisal foreign tariffs).
I wish I hadn't been about four drinks in or I could've made my arguments more coherently.

I realize that Schiff is a world class grandstander, but when will Dems realize that appealing to the GOP’s better angels is a complete waste of time? The GOP cares so much about our traditional trans-Atlantic alliances that they blew off a bunch of allies in invading Iraq and literally tried to change the name french fries to “Freedom fries.”

I'd venture to say that if I was non-volunteered back to the peninsula for a year it would be all soju all the time regardless.
I just wish Obama was given the same latitude to meet like this.
Edit:
Trump Pledge to Halt Military Exercises Surprises Pentagon and Seoul
Oh my Jesus. This is equally hilarious and sad.“We fly in bombers from Guam,” Mr. Trump said. “I said it when I first started, I said, ‘Where do the bombers come from? Guam. Nearby.’ I said ‘Oh great, nearby, where is nearby?’ Six and a half hours. Six and a half hours. That’s a long time for these big massive planes to be flying to South Korea to practice and then drop bombs all over the place and then go back to Guam.”
“I know a lot about airplanes,” Mr. Trump added. “It’s very expensive. I didn’t like it. What I did say is and I think it is very provocative.”
All I can think about are the Republican shitstains I used to work with and the reaction I'd give to them. And if they heard this coming from Obama...oh hypocrisy.

That's awesomely over the top.
It's not that crazy. Vietnam had sanctions lifted in 1995 and look now. Resorts everywhere. Especially in Da Nang and Nha Trang.

There's zero chance Kim wasn't already fully aware what will happen if he were to open it up. In fact, less than zero. He has no interest in that. He does however have an interest in gaining legitimacy as a dictator. To that end, Trump's served him nicely.degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 1:48 pm That's awesomely over the top.

If he opens up the country even a little bit, he has to allow some freedom of information to flow into the country, at least in some small amount to accommodate tourism. Once that happens and the North Korean people learn just how the rest of the world lives, the gig is up for Kim, so yeah. Never gonna happen.

I think you guys are right. But I always hold out hope.
Could Kim be a Deng Xiaoping figure? Ruthlessly took China from nothing in the 80s to economic reforms.
Vietnam took that model and multiplied it ten fold. China still has some restrictions (like great firewall). Vietnam has nothing. Going to Vietnam today is like going to Bangkok.
If things take off, they take off fast. Another example is Myanmar. Opened up in 2015 Smartphone networks there have exploded. Foreign investors are coming in etc..
