International Hoops/Fiba

USA should not lose to Mexico....period. We are not talking about a Euro team, but Mexico.

BUILD THAT WALL! (around the G-League players on the team so that they can't represent the US in any more international competitions)

I think it is time we start treating the national team more like international soccer. A player pool, a full time coach, etc. Not a random selection that comes together when it is important.

I agree. Only winning 98% of everything is some bullcrap. Blow the system up. What's Klinsmann doing these days?

In seriousness I find it really hard to believe there aren't enough mid-tier NBA players who wouldn't love the chance to represent their country, even in a non-Olympic tournament.

I'm thinking more pragmatically and less patriotically as far as their participation but sure...I kind of see your point.

Great FIBA brawl video.

but...
The game resumed with the Philippine team fielding only three players. Two of those players quickly fouled out, leaving one Philippines player on the court

The Philippine basketball team needs to be suspended by FIBA for that display. That was ridiculous.

Didn't we make that change about 10 years ago when Coach K took over? Did they revert that?

From that article:
Marcus Thornton scored 14 points for the U.S., which is using a roster composed primarily of G League players for the qualifying rounds. Xavier Munford had 11 points, and David Stockton and Reggie Hearn each had 10 for the Americans.
I think I speak for all of us when I say, "who?"
