And he was too stupid to keep his mouth shut a second time. She tried to give him a life rope not once but twice. Where’s the producer in his ear telling him to shut his mouth? She did nothing wrong, he’s an idiot.EnochRoot wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 1:35 pmI don't see it that way at all. He made an incredible stupid observation, and she asked him to expand on it. The producer was probably soon in both their ears, which is why I said what she should’ve done earlier. Make light of his idiocy so he can laugh his way out of it.bfj wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 1:50 pmAnd he was too stupid to keep his mouth shut a second time. “Rather than directly tell him what he said was stupid on air, she tried to lead him into self-correction twice. When he didn’t either time, that makes her a dick too.”
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
I’ll take that a step further and say that if/when he does address this, he should point out that Mendoza tried to steer him out and he whiffed.
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
Not by me, you, or anyone whose opinion means anything. Terrible people say terrible things; that's not an argument.
Sooo...someone is a "shitty person" and deserves to lose his job, because he's annoyed by something that some other people think he shouldn't be? Do you *really* mean that?? That is not remotely rational. Intolerance of any difference of opinion is the worst kind of bigotry there is.
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
She asked him twice to expand on an ignorant thought. That's not leading. That's entrapping the ignorant. So um...Score?!

What's his baggage? Your point (and obviously others) would make more sense if he's burned his last bridge in the booth.

I'm admittedly unfamiliar with ESPN's job expectations for play-by-play personnel, but ripping fans in attendance is probably not part of the job description, save for the rare exception like racists chants at a player or throwing garbage on the field. If he's incapable of doing a professional job (or lacks self-awareness to the point where he thinks this is acceptable), he shouldn't have the job.
He can dislike bachelorette parties at baseball games (or wherever) all he wants, but he probably should keep that opinion away from the microphone.

This has been a helpful thread to figure out the misogynists , thanks.

I didn’t take it like that at all. His only free out at that point was self-correction and she tried to walk him through the process rather than rush to confront.
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
Fair enough. Still, she was affording him the rope. I just think the correct course was to respond to it with as inane a reply it deserved.mister d wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:36 amI didn’t take it like that at all. Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
I think the context makes the lack of hustle more damning than that tweet would indicate. Two outs, bases loaded, ninth inning, down by one. Sanchez hits a grounder to the second baseman. Runner from first base beats the attempted force at second, but Sanchez is slow getting down the line, so the shortstop relays the throw to first to get him out and save the win. Obvs, if he'd been running hard all the way...

I was really curious if YES was going to show the replay or just try to sit on it because you knew immediately how bad it was going to look. That was some Softball Mister D shit.

I’ll see your context and raise the following:
He also jogged after a passed ball he allowed in the 1st inning, allowing a runner (a first baseman) to score from 2nd base. Later in the game, he had a single. That was fielded off the wall in LF.
He’s petulant and moody. Basically, he’s the child that requires participation trophies.
Yeah. He’s my favorite Yankee.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
I mean, having three examples of a player not hustling in any specific game is bad enough, as it indicts the manager in his inexcusable, clubhouse-cancer-causing lack of effort...But what also gets me is how there’s now multiple instances of Severino questioning Sanchez’s acumen. Scouts are wondering if he gets crossed up so much because he simply forgets the pitch he called moments earlier.

No you don’t throw out the good with the bad. Should’ve given serious to consideration to flipping him for the two months of Machado though.mister d wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 8:43 amSo Sheffield and Frazier?EnochRoot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 8:26 amI mean, having three examples of a player not hustling in any specific game is bad enough, as it indicts the manager in his inexcusable, clubhouse-cancer-causing lack of effort...But what also gets me is how there’s now multiple instances of Severino questioning Sanchez’s acumen. They're going to need Sanchez's youth when they have 4 games to make up on Boston and have to go 8-negative 4 to catch them

They are saying he reaggrevated his groin injury and couldn't run.

They are saying that to DL him back to the minors (he's out of options).degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 1:21 pm They are saying he reaggrevated his groin injury and couldn't run.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
So they're going to ship him out for 2+ weeks, including sitting for a week and a half on the wink-wink "DL" before a wink-wink "rehab assignment", as punishment?
Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
Where do you get 2+ weeks? The 10 Day DL is a thing now. I mean, wink-wink all you want, but it seems that had Sanchez actually hurt himself last night, he'd have said he felt a twinge in the post game. I'm also reasonable certain that had a catcher you know, aggravated a hamstring injury, he'd you know, not be able to resume catching after the injury occurred.
I see this as a way to get Sanchez down to the minors to work on the fact that, whenever he goes 1-5, his batting average goes up, and also remind him what the clubhouse thinks of dogging it.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
He can't play in the minors tomorrow on the DL, he'd have to sit 10 days then on a rehab assignment. That's how I get 2+ weeks. Wink-wink.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
I see both sides? Honestly, most Cashman trades I Iike to love off the bat and I see the downside here, but I also see massive upside if Britton cleans himself back up. If it goes as projected, it’s a high variance bullpen arm for a future bullpen arm (Tate) and guys who won’t ever really make it (check Carroll’s BB rate). Best case is Tate can start in Baltimore but I can’t see NY ever able to have the patience to let that happen.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 1
It’s a solid trade because they’re set to lose tangible talent in the Rule V draft this winter.
Of course he can’t. He’s being stashed while he “heals.” Even Boone acknowledged Sanchez’s lack of hustle throughout the game and his “Ow coach my leg!” weren’t mutually exclusive. This has been Sanchez’ M.O. for years. The Yankees would just prefer to tolerate it when he’s actually..you know..hitting.
