Cowboy Joe West is named crew chief for the ALCS and the one thing Red Sox and Tigers fans will agree on this week -- ugh.

The Tigers are playing? I thought you said on Facebook the other day that you were forced to root for either the Sox or A's?

What I said was that I would be forced to root for the NL team since there's no way I could root for either the A's or Red Sox.

I'm headed to Game 1 tonight. Not a fan of either team, but I'll be rooting for the Tigers. I know Anibal Sanchez has had a great year, but I'd be surprised if he is able to contain Boston's lineup tonight.

Bump.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Just got in from the curling club to see Sanchez lifted in the 7th while pitching a no-hitter. What the hell? Did he hurt himself? Did he walk a dozen guys? Did he murder someone?

Thanks. First thing I heard was Tim McCarver babbling on about Sanchez being the "kind of pitcher he is, he's not the type that is likely to pitch a no-hitter anyway". Uh, yeah, sure. Buck didn't correct him.

For some reason my ScoreCenter App told me that the game was happening at 2am on the 14th.

Kinda shitty news to wake up to.

Fun game last night. Even though Sanchez didn't give up any hits, it felt like he was walking a tightrope the whole game with all the walks he allowed. That said, he made some of the Red Sox hitters look pretty bad last night--Ortiz in particular.

But not a no walker. Those of us not from Boston get a tad concerned with a one-run lead when there are baserunners everywhere, a good hitter at the plate, and the Green Monster looming just behind the shortstop. A broken-bat double to win the game for the Red Sox was a real possibility.

Two Red Sox fans at the bar today were insisting that Joe West "hates" the Red Sox. Is that a thing or are they just crazy?

The Sox fans were upset about a bunch of calls at the game last night. Particularly some of the Ks called against them on check swings. But all of those calls looked right to me. I thought the umpires called a good game, overall.

Yeah I'm not a Joe West fan but it's mostly because he seems to be all about Joe West. I've never heard about him having a beef against the Sox that sounded like crazy talk.

Y'know, we should all take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to FOX Sports for identifying that every single person in the world watching the FOX Sports baseball telecasts is so staggeringly fucking stupid that we clearly need the FOX Sports shiny neon comet trail to show us the path of a thrown ball in super fucking slow motion. Is there a Nobel Prize for televising baseball? FOX Sports should win for the combination of their shiny neon comet trail to show us the path of a thrown ball in super fucking slow motion because we're too unspeakably stupid to grasp how a thrown ball moves and the paintball splats on their imposed tic-tac-toe grid that tells us where the fucking pitch must have finished that you can't see for yourself because there is a Valentines Day Massacre of huge cartoonish red splotches covering it. That's some avant fucking garde shit, right there.

I hope the Tigers score in the middle innings. As a physician, my expert medical opinion is that Brian's heart can't take another 1-0 game.

(Personally, I'm watching zombies. But this Walking Dead premier sucks, 30min in.)

Make it three consecutive postseason games where one team's starting pitcher has gone five (or more) hitless innings.

Eighth and ninth have been everything bad about the Tigers all season long - shaky bullpen and bad infield defense, especially at the corners (Cabrera couldn't even move for that grounder).

ETA: At least I didn't have to stay up really late to watch the misery of how it ended.

And Scherzer's pitch count was 107 when lifted after 7. Fucking paint-by-numbers bullpen management.

When I played in Boston if a black man jumped over a wall the local constables would have not reacted in quite so jubilant a manner.

The local media reports today said that Scherzer told Leyland he was done after the 7th (and Leyland was planning on lifting him at that point, anyway).
