Congrats SC, sounds like the start to a great new adventure.

Hey...I got a new gig too! I start on the tuesday after Labor Day. Gave my notice this morning, and it felt great to be able to do it a full month before I got shown the door.

Thanks everyone. Pretty psyched to have it all over with.
Will be a bit of a change...I won't be in a research/lab/academic setting anymore. Will be working for a company that makes lab equipment for doing genetic sequencing type stuff.

Good work Dave.
I was going to say if you wanted to move to Boulder we're hiring a developer. I don't think they'd make you write examples on a white board either.

Yup. We've long talked about moving to Colorado and this might be the right time to do it. I can most likely keep my job and work remotely if I come back to the office a week a month.

Not strictly hospitals, but that's where she'd prefer. She's about to start her Masters in Healthcare Admin.

Re: Swamp Job Questions
I know Anschutz is usually looking for people. They don't often make it out to the job sites. The CU Job List is the place to look
I've got a friend that works for Cigna and I know they are ALWAYS looking for people.
Can she do Master's remotely or thinking of enrolling here? If she can get a job at Anshutz she gets 9 free credit hours a year.

My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

She just got an interview with a big hospital here being interviewed by a guy who she replaced at two of her last three jobs. They've already done a background check and the job's been open for a bit. So looking good to find a job here.

Re: Swamp Job Questions
So this Colorado thing seems to be gaining traction, but further west to Grand Junction. Rush shared a jobs site with me and the wife immediately found a job there that pays close to the same to what she was making here. We're both extremely excited about the thought of just packing up and moving the fuck out of here. We both want to slow our pace of life down and looking for a place with some sort of notion of seasons. Just checking the drive times to see my sister in Cali, my niece in Seattle or to spend a weekend in the city we were married has me so fucking pumped. Looking at the cost of living there, we could very feasibly for the first time in years be completely out of debt almost immediately upon selling our house. Especially if we rented for a year or two. The money and time we'd save by not having to spend over two hours in traffic on a daily basis would add up quickly.
We are going to take a trip up there later this week to see if we like it and she's going to call tomorrow to try and schedule an interview while we're in town. Will probably be in the Denver area Saturday-Monday.

Re: Swamp Job Questions
I was in Grand Junction last year for my high school reunion, and I had sort of forgotten how pretty it is in western Colorado.

Glad it was a help!
Grand Junction is a tad too Trump for me, but the wife grew up in that area and loved it.
Can you telecommute / transfer or are you just gonna say F it and start that pot farm?

Re: Swamp Job Questions
Luckily/sadly we're somewhat used to the Trump part, so that's not a big turnoff as of yet.
I can telecommute most likely which would involve spending a week a month here in Houston. Which would make leaving all my friends easier since we typically only hang out once a month these days anyway.

Rush, what is your wife's hometown?
And, yes, sadly, Grand Junction is more republican than not, but there is a college there (Colorado Mesa University), so there is a bit of liberalism, too.

The wife is from Hayden. More Steamboat than GJ, but still the same general mentality.
