DVR alert. Tomorrow morning at 5:15 am EST, TCM is airing an old documentary about Lightnin’ Hopkins. I have never seen this film so I have no idea if it’s any good. But it sounds like something worth taking a chance on.
If it's the short one by Les Blank, it is strange and wonderful. Best watched after a bourbon or two.
Speakin' of poor ole Lightnin'...

Thomas Dolby played synthesizers on Urgent and did the intro on that sappy ballad of theirs.

Pretty sure they're not old timey, but there's a band playing Boulder next week called Pruitt. Would have grabbed a pic of the poster, but I was running late for the bus and a beer at the pub with the wife before we had to go grab the kid from daycare.

You still have to be in good shape to be in Byrne's band. Everyone danced the whole damn time when I saw him last fall.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.

Funny thing When I saw the talking heads in 1980, there was no dancing on stage at all. Just a four piece band standing there and playing. Not even much conversation with the audience.

Long, long, long before they became a brutal self-parody, this was the greatest rock band in the world.

It's not in my typical wheelhouse, but I love Strangeways, Here We Come.
Johnny Marr's licks. Just so perfect.
