There are plenty of pervs like you out there, so it's possible to make a guesstimate from google IS. I don't know man.
I met Scott Stevens years ago, just after he retired. He was wearing cargo shorts, so I didn't get to check out dem thighs, but his calves were awe inspiring. He was like, my eyes are up here buddy.

Re: 2018-2019 NHL Season
I guess I didn't realize how absolutely ripped almost all NHL players are until I saw that photo from the VGK trip to Cabo during their "off week" last year, but like every single dude on the team has a six pack and enormous legs and I guess it makes sense. Then I learned that's basically what every NHL player looks like.rass wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:06 am There are plenty of pervs like you out there, so it's possible to make a guesstimate from google IS. And Phil Kessel.
But yeah, I'm pretty convinced hockey players are the most fit professional athletes around. You have to be seriously strong and have the lungs of a horse to play at a top level.

When the NHL lit lamps and smokes
Adrian Dater, SI wrote:When Mike Keenan arrived to coach the Blackhawks in 1988, he noticed something disturbing in his team's dressing room at Chicago Stadium: ashtrays. Not just the squiggly-squared, amber-colored glass trays that populated most public places, but tall, regal-looking stands. Finished butts, dozens of them, had been given proper state funerals, or so it looked.
Keenan, no saint but never a smoker, was shocked.
"I had just come from Philadelphia, where there really weren't a lot of guys who smoked," he says. "But I walk in and see those ashtrays everywhere, and the first thing I told the guys was: 'OK, no more smoking in the dressing room. If you gotta smoke, do it out in the hallway.' So I'm coaching my first exhibition game and I go into the dressing room after the first period to talk, and there's no one in there. I'm wondering what in hell is going on, and take a walk out to the other side of the hallway and the whole team is out there, smoking cigarettes."

That's fucking bizarre. And let's not act like smoking was cool back in 88. I mean, it was certainly more prevalent than it is now, and I had a number of friends in high school that were casual (drinking) smokers. But there was a pretty dark stigma attached to it.
I guess those guys would've been born in the 60s, which was the absolute peak of smoking culture in the US. But I find it really crazy that professional athletes... and entire NHL team... would be smoking like that.

Soccer players were known for this back in the day (and apparently not just back in the day). I remember reading stories about Johan Cruyff (google Johan Cruyff smoking and you see pictures of him puffing at halftime)Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 2:51 pm That's fucking bizarre. Re: 2018-2019 NHL Season
I remember being in the Tigers locker room in the mid-90s and being legitimately shocked at how many players smoked. Of course, baseball is vastly different from hockey in terms of cardio, but it was still about like a third of the team including Mickey Tettleton (who chain-smoked) and Alan Trammell.

Do the Capitals play the Knights anymore this season? I’d pay for that ticket.

Fuck you NHL.
This is a 2 game suspension.
This is not a penalty.
Lomberg also got a 2 games suspension which is correct.

Instigating in the last couple minutes is an automatic suspension, so no question on Lomberg.
Koivu was injured and is missing his next game, so that likely caused the suspension wheel o' justice to spin against Giordano. It was a surprising dirty play, but if no injury, probably no suspension.

And the Dumba hit? Backlund is out for 2 games and maybe more.

Dumba hit is probably NHL legal and should be out of the league. Lomberg’s reaction is why I’m not 100% against fighting in some form.

Ha ha. Congrats, Degen!
Feelgood story for the Sharks tonight. Game tied 3-3 late in the third period. 28 year-old Czech rookie Lukas Radil, recently called up from the AHL, puts a nifty backhand over the goalie's shoulder to score his first NHL goal and win the game.

NHL scheduling is about as baffling as their suspension rulings.
Monday’s game was the fifth straight in which the Sharks changed time zones. That’s the second time this season that’s happened.

Re: 2018-2019 NHL Season
This is the most obvious result possible but of course since it's the NHL it probably won't happen. My hot take:
The NHL keeps Fertitta at arm's length for at least a year to try and work out the arena/ownership situation with Arizona, but eventually submits in time to move the Coyotes to Houston for the 2020-21 season. Arizona sells for about $500M and Fertitta has to pay a $250M relocation fee. (The NHL will want him to pay more than the Seattle group to enter the league even if it has to artificially inflate the value of the Arizona franchise. Of course once it moves to Houston, it'll easily be worth about $750M or so.)
The NHL will move Houston to the Central for 2020-21 and then just slide Seattle into the Pacific as planned for 21-22.

Sure, but the point stands. Phoenix isn't a bad a market as people think. First of all, it's something like the 6th or 7th biggest city in America. They just have bad/revolving door ownership and an arena in a shitty location. Sound familiar?degenerasian wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 8:56 amOttawa is still a much better market than Quebec. Absolutely, but they're moving to a bigger city, Houston. The NHL would never move Phoenix to Hamilton, or Quebec or even Seattle because Phoenix is a much better market then them. But Houston is different.brian wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 10:16 amSure, but the point stands. Phoenix isn't a bad a market as people think. Ottawa could move somewhere and so could Calgary. But not to Quebec City. Quebec city is tiny with no corporate money.

Re: 2018-2019 NHL Season
That's fair, but I'm not convinced Phoenix to Houston is much of a change all things considered. I think Houston will probably support the team fine, but Phoenix would be salvageable with some decent/consistent ownership and a downtown arena. Just like Ottawa would as well. As it stands, it's more embarrassing to have a team in a Canadian market drawing crowds of 70 percent of capacity than it is to have Arizona drowning.

yeah i think we've gotten to the point that Canadians are finally priced out of NHL hockey. I looked on Stubhub and the cheapest ticket for a Nashville -Ottawa game is $30. $30 to get a ticket that is not in demand in the nosebleeds. Who's going to pay that and drive out of the city on a Monday night? Calgary's tickets are the cheapest in Canada. $10 for nosebleeds for some non-popular games. But in return you have to sit in a 35 year old building. Oilers prices are outrageous because of the new arena.

Re: 2018-2019 NHL Season
Regarding the Glendale problem for the Coyotes, it's amazing how the location and quality of the arena matters. The San Francisco Giants almost left town in the 1980s, because fans were tired of having to wear their parkas out to Candlestick in July. Then they moved to a nice new park right in town, next to the CalTrain stop, built to protect from the wind... and voila, regular sellouts!

I don't think he can keep up this pace.
Also, an interesting note to the fact that the Pacific teams have improved lately - Vegas has played 20 road games but only 14 home games. That will work in their favor later. Anaheim is the opposite.
