Yep. Good call. Correct call. Terrible sequence on which to end a World Series game but so it goes.

The only thing I wondered about was if you could obstruct a runner if he is not actually in the basepath. But Craig was (barely).

yes, you can. a base runner who is out of the base path attempting to re-enter the base path can be obstructed.

two more points. the movement of middlebrooks' feet is not a requirement for obstruction. he could be stiff as a statue, and still commit obstruction. even without realistic opportunity to get out of the way.

second point, for all bitching chowds. tuck rule, bitches. suck it. yes, I am a bitter bitter man.

I can see where the argument will center on if Middlebrooks intentionally raised his feet. He probably did; one's feet go groundward not skyward when attempting to get up. Yet that, of course, never would have had any bearing on the umpire's decision.

What a weird crowd buzz in St Louis after the game, during the postgame player interviews, eh? It wasn't a cheering as much as a mass whatthefuck buzz.

Farrell might get some heavy yak about leaving Workman in to hit instead of going to Napoli. I thought Farrell managed a great game tonight. And don't blame him a bit for sticking with Workman there, facing a guy throwing a billion miles per hour, and saving Napoli for a possibly better matchup should the game go to extras.

Buchholtz and Lynn tomorrow. Apparently.

"OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner."

Far more clear, and common, than the tuck rule was.

I picked the Cardinals to win because I had the feeling some stupid shit was going to happen.

If only "Boston Strong" could show up when it mattered most.

Howard was right. The headline writers today are stupid. Anything to get eyeballs.

"Umps makes correct obstruction call in controversial finish"

How is that possible?

Exactly. It's ridiculous out there today.

"It may have been the most controversial call to ever end a World Series game..." Uh, no. It would have been controversial if it had been wrong. It wasn't wrong. Not even debatable.

Two games in a row, the Red Sox threw the ball from home plate into Bolivia. That's why Boston lost. Nothing controversial about that.

Again. Anyone else watching this?

Fifth inning, Game Four. Red Sox load the bases with nobody out and the only run they score is Ortiz from 3rd on a mid-depth sac fly to left? Weird, weird, weird.

Seventh inning. Wainwright sure pitched (over)cautiously to Steven Drew. Then a curve spun just a little bit, hanging just enough for Ross to smak for a double.

I wanted to see if he was gonna let Lester hit with the game tied and two on.

A mere 2:52 for a World Series game in 2013? Seems almost abbreviated.

Yes, this is the last World Series broadcast by T Mc. I'm sure they'll find another annoying color commentator to replace him, like Ron Darling.

Right...these fucking assholes go nuts over "A-Roid"...35,000 Massholes chant it throughout the entire game when the Yankees are in town and his buddy Ortiz just sits there smiling like a fucking puppy dog. 10 years ago Ortiz needed steroids to tear it up...now 10 years later we're supposed to believe he's doing the same thing clean?

If there's a runner in scoring position and a base open, sure walk him. But he's not a true talent .750 OBP guy. Eventually he'll regress. It'll probably be next year, but still!

This will be the first World Series game six played in Fenway since 1975. And we all know how that one turned out. Even if you didn't watch that epic, you've seen replays of Fisk waving it fair a million times. Wonder if the Red Sox will do anything special pre-game? Fisk and Tiant are rumored to be present.

Boston has not won a World Series on their home field since 1918, about one month before World War One ended; a skirmish caused by the demise of a little known, over paid and light hitting, utility infielder. Meanwhile, in America, the Bostons featured a pitching staff of Carl Mays, Bullet Joe Bush, Sad Sam Jones, and some kid named Babe Ruth.

That year, in 1918, the Chicago Cubs were trying to win their fist World Series since 1908. They still are.

The following October, all hell broke loose.
