2013 NFL Week 9
I guess the NFL felt jealous about the weird endings in baseball and wanted one of their own

It at least has happend twice before, and once pretty recently.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
That game was awesome and everything that the Monday Night games haven't been.

I'm in a big money survivor pool (winner clears $10G, about 70-some people entered). Double-elim. I didn't want to get on the Dallas train (a Vikes win will blow this pool up), so I took....fucking Tennessee, on the road.
Wish me luck. Almost took Cincy but figured that the Dolphins might pull that one out. Wooohah! Got yinz all in check.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
I can't wait to see what the Browns will do Sunday afternoon to lose in a more dramatic fashion than the Bengals.
Also, the officiating was horrible last night. There should've been a flag on the Dolphins for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Mohammed Sanu on the third interception. Pacman Jones should've been flagged for pass interference on a key third down play in overtime. And I'm not convinced Brian Hartline got his second foot down on that long pass on the late fourth quarter drive that tied the game. There wasn't any grass movement or mark left on the field until the second foot hit out of bounds. Why that wasn't reviewed automatically is puzzling.
And I'm still confused as hell as to what's a catch and what isn't. One of the Bengals receivers (Jones or Sanu, I believe) caught a ball and the ball touched the ground when he landed. It was ruled a completion because the officials determined he possessed the ball or it didn't move or whatever, but how many times have you seen similar catches ruled incomplete?

I agree with you but I'm positive in my opinion that Hartline got that foot down.
Also, they never challenged that particular play. I think it had to be challenged. Cincy really should have gotten that snap off. I think they would have won the challenge.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
The Hartline catch definitely would've been a referee-initiated review since it happened after the two minute warning.
The Jones/Sanu catch probably would've been a challenge by the Dolphins since the catch occurred before the two minute warning, even though the clock was stopped by the two minute warning.
Regardless, the officiating in the NFL blows more goats than Kranepool.

Justin Blackmon suspended indefinitely:

I was thisclose to trading for Blackmon in my high stakes dynasty league. I had sent an offer for him last week, the guy never responded and the offer expired. The guy hits me up last night that he might be interested in my offer and he would let me know his decision today. Luckily I still haven't heard from him...I was ready to overpay for him.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
Man, I don't see how the Jags are going to win a game this year now. I was thinking Blackmon might singlehandedly be able to get a game for them (though they obviously don't have anyone who can get him the ball consistently).

Horrible play by Tuel. 100+ yard TAINT for KC.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
I've only been in and out the game, but from what I've seen FOX is maintaining 50/50 split of Vikings/Cowboys game action and shots of Dez Bryant on the sidelines.

Dez can yell at the defense for not tackling A.P.

The TE made that run. He caught Peterson as he was about to go down, and helped drag him into the endzone.howard wrote:Dez can yell at the defense for not tackling A.P.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
I didn't even notice another Viking pushing the pile.
If they don't give Buffalo that catch, they oughta just have a five second rule on pass receptions.

What's it takes for NFL coach to get fired?
Falcons and Cowboys are hopeless.
Texans too but I'll wait to see what happens tonight.

Did someone die at Football Night in America?
Sounds like Kubiak suffered a myocardial infarction, from Michelle Tafoya's report. Oxygen, morphine, asprin and nitroglycerin. Any NFL training room should have all that stuff.
ETA: Somehow I have little confidence in the medical judgment of Wade Phillips.

1) Jeff Tuel lived up to the hype.
2) If the Browns beat the Bengals in two weeks...
3) Dan Dierdorf is becoming more Dierdorf with age.

I'm a little surprised there's been no talk about the Miami Dolphins-Jonathan Martin issue.
Richie Incognito suspended by the Dolphins as it investigates Martin's claims of harassment.
If what is being reported is true, it's an absolute embarrassment for the team and its veterans.

Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
I had ignored the story. The idea of a NFL player being 'bullied' off a team is confusing to me, but I wasn't interested enough to look any deeper. The word 'bullying' and the concept is losing specific meaning as it gets thrown around. This, to my conception, is not bullying, but is extortion:Sabo wrote:I'm a little surprised there's been no talk about the Miami Dolphins-Jonathan Martin issue.

Time for a RICO investigation.Young Dolphins players are under pressure to dig deep into their pockets to pay for veterans’ social outings, a practice that is straining their finances and locker room chemistry, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation.
These allegations come on the heels of an ESPN report Sunday morning that Incognito pressured Martin into paying $15,000 for an unofficial team vacation to Las Vegas — a trip that Martin, an offensive tackle, didn’t even join.
………
The source characterized Dolphins veterans using younger players as ATMs to finance their nightlife whims. These older players have been caught up in the fast-paced Miami lifestyle without the burden of having to pay for it, the source continued.

One of the Miami beat reporters tweeted that one rookie defensive player is essentially broke from all the veterans mooching off of him. Hard to explain to most people that you're broke when you make $400k a year.

Re: 2013 NFL Week 9
Also worth noting is that Incognito has allegedly been sending racial texts, voicemails and calls to Martin.
Only speculation, but I'm guessing Martin refused to pay up and the bullying is now a result of that. If this is indeed true, then what the Dolphins do with Incognito will be interesting. Keep him and you basically encourage this behaviour.
