I'm surprised he doesn't hand out The Art of the Deal at every event, then he could brag about sales numbers. Even better, he could have the government buy all the copies, and he makes royalties. America First!

What Pelosi isn't saying but can't say is that the Dems WANT to run against Trump in 2020. He's not some freaking wizard, he's the most hated president in modern American history, regardless of what his brain-damaged base think about him. Trump is much easier to beat than Pence.

You know, I am very confident in my own intelligence, and have been following politics since the late Nixon years...
But this did not occur to me. Probably because of the sheer hatred I have for Trump and his fart catchers.
Makes sense... however, there is the fact that the Democrats lost to him once already. Can the figure out a way not to blow it again in 2020?
"beautiful, with an exotic-yet-familiar facial structure and an arresting gaze."
Its the same safe-play bullshit centrism that got us here. And, if you want to be just slightly cynical, its just a thinly veiled attack on the far left in her own party.

Even though 2018 was a wave election for Democrats, a hardcore Trumpist was elected Governor of Florida and the GOP won almost every statewide race in Ohio. So Trump could absolutely get re-elected if the Democratic candidate runs a bad campaign. At least they announced Milwaukee as the convention site so we won’t get a repeat of the 2016 debacle where Clinton completely ignored Wisconsin. That is one of the three must-win states along with Michigan and Pennsylvania.
I agree there should be impeachment hearings but not until either the Mueller report is released or House investigations have had some time to happen. Unfortunately that would push things to 2020 most likely and there’s little wisdom in impeaching a president a few months before that president is running for re-election.
I’m not swayed by arguments that it doesn’t matter because the Senate won’t convinct anyway but I am swayed by the argument that there isn’t a huge groundswell of support for impeachment among Americans.

Same calculation lead to a lot of us cheering him to republican nomination in 2016 too. That didn’t work out.
I’m not saying the Dems should be as overconfident as 2016 and I’m not certain how that’s possible anyway but lending any kind power to Trump that he doesn’t possess is just silly.
He’s a wet, old, brain-wormed racist, not some political genius playing 4D chess like some people insist on assuming. There’s no wizard behind the curtain any more and he can’t run on anything other than his record, which is pretty grim other than the continuation of the Obama bull market.
I’m not saying he can’t win again I’m just saying that he’s the Republican I’d want to run against if I somehow won the Dem nomination.
Unless there is some sort of clairvoyant long game 7D chess scheming going on from Pelosi, she's dead fucking wrong. "He's just not worth it" were her literal words. Unbelievable.
We're beyond impeachment with this guy. He's being insulated by Republicans who fail to do their jobs.
Also, where's this guy's fucking tax returns already?

I get what you guys are saying but I’m not you’re realizing the House can’t prepare articles of impeachment without at least a bare minimum of criminal charges. I get the full litany of stuff has been reported in the press but that’s not presentable as evidence in an impeachment trial. Since the GOP wouldn’t investigate him the House has to and that’s gonna take at least a little time, later this fall at the absolute soonest.
And I’m sure no one wants to hear this either but this isn’t like impeaching Clinton since Trump is up for re-election and the realities of the political calculus there has the risk of turning Trump into a victim right before the election which is the last thing anyone should want.
Without some buy-in from at least a few Republicans, it would be an unnecessary and self-inflicted political circus. The House gets the same benefit by investigating every thing it can about him without any of the possible negatives.
Let’s say I accept all that ... why fucking say it? What purpose does “we don’t really think his actions are that bad”, which is the optics of the quote, serve aside from attempting to diminish the power of those willing to threaten it?

There I agree with you. All Pelosi has to say is let the investigations take their course and we’ll see what our constituents have to say. Whether they do it or not is beside the point then.
And I want to underscore what brian said about the logistics here. Unless Meuller comes out swinging and does the unprecedented, the House needs to carry out its own investigation. That's why Nadler had to go all in with his 81 letters last week. 99 percent of that stuff has already been turned over to various other investigations, but Nadler needs to introduce into the House records.
If you guys want to be indignant, save it up for last week's bullshit in fighting over Rep. Omar, allowing HR1 to get completely ignored by the media. We could win the election running on the fact that McConnell and the GOP are basically saying more democracy is bad for Republicans.
You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.
I want him gone too, but I understand the optics here. You impeach him and all his base hears is "Dems finally got a eeked out majority in Congress because of California libtards and they wanted him out because they hate our beloved MAGA leader so much that they'd do anything to remove him."
Beat him at the ballot box 80/20 and he goes away as the worst experiment of all time and they slink back to their holes. There's no win on the Democratic side by removing him forcefully from office. Let him suffer. I'm not inclined to believe he makes it another 2 years health-wise anyhow.

I don't see this as unrelated.

Here I am, somewhere between DTW and SJC, wondering what happened with a plane.
He's referring to the Ethiopian Airlines crash from Sunday. Was the second Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane to crash this year (one in Indonesia earlier in year).
