I also don't care for Pink Floyd. Not that I don't appreciate it, just ain't my jam.

We should definitely celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the best albums in the history of music.

Great, great album. Their peak, AFAIC.

I'd have a bitch of a time choosing between CR, CR and Slanted and Enchanted if forced to pick one Pavement album, but would probably say CR, CR.

Re: Getting the spins
I don't know that I know a difference between the albums, if I'm putting them on its just shuffling everything. This makes me want to give it a listen and see if I have a preference.

Gold Soundz is such a beautiful song. A perfect 2:40.

Nice write-up in The Ringer too.
Out of context quote for Mr. D:
"I wish they would take me on tour with them,” he jokes. “Whatever, you know? We showed the love to our favorite bands on our tour. I’m like, ‘Come on guys. Throw me a bone, here.’ The National? I can go tour with the National, right? Yeah?" - Spiral Stairs

Re: Getting the spins
Ironically enough, I saw one of those Indie bands last night that likely drew from Stephen Malkmus. Car Seat Headrest was at Ramshead Live here in Baltimore. He adds a few additional musicians to his touring band. They actually opened the show (the 3 musicians are a band called Naked Giants).
Great show. Rock ain’t dead. At all.

There's a Robert Pollard / Guided by Voices thing going on with him. Probably more woke though.

I've heard he's especially good live. That Interpol show lineup looks great. Seeing Paul Banks & Co. down here in May. No idea who the opener is.

Re: Getting the spins
I was on the fence since MSG + solo + sick wasn’t overly appealing but decided I was out when I saw their setlists were near identical each nice. Unless it’s a full album concert I don’t want to know what song is next.
Re: Getting the spins
Don't know why this was in my head today, but I LOVE this song by Floyd.

Re: Getting the spins
It really sucks Floyd really didn't have that prolific of a live itinerary (setlists).
Cuz stuff like that (and many other songs) should've been shuffled in and out throughout the years..Up to and after Waters' departure..

Re: Getting the spins
Not sure if it's just a local ad (might be, advertising a show at MSG) but every Spotify commercial break so far this morning has included an announcer shouting "WEEZER!!!" at me, accompanied by opening chords of their Africa cover all at like 10 times the volume of the music I'm listening to.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: Getting the spins
I hated it, but Pitchfork did too...might have to revisit.

Re: Getting the spins
They didn't do anything special with the covers. Had they changed them up a bit, it may have been worth while, but just very underwhelming. I also feel the same way about the Black Album right now. Need to give it a few more listens.
They better put on a hell of a show in a couple weeks. It has been at least 15 years since I have seen them live.

Great show great venue. He had some throat issues so he left out some songs but it was so so good. Lady AB lived it too.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

So so good.
This was the Beths album "Future Me Hates Me". It's not showing up for me now.

This isn't music, it's a short essay by Hayes Carll. But, I thought it belongs here, given the subject matter. Checkitout.

here's a link to tribute show for Scott Hutchison (Frightened Rabbit) back in Decemeber, featuring Ben Gibbard, Julien Baker, Craig Finn and others). Its really good...especially Baker's version of "Holy".

Re: Getting the spins
Without (knowingly) hearing any of that album yet, I go with Bridgers in first and then I wish I could pair Baker's voice with Dacus's music?
Re: Getting the spins
Also, a lot of this genre with St. Vincent at the top, Mitski 2nd and then those three plus Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy and Hatchie and I'm sure others reminds me a lot of the dude singer-songwriters of the early 2000s but better.
Re: Getting the spins
That’s pretty much how I feel but I would just say way, way, way better.
“Me And My Dog” isn’t a song a guy could write. But it’s still accessible to men. There’s not an inverse to that really.

Actually, “Me And My Dog” is a great accompaniment to Phosphorecent’s “Song For Zula”. They’re both incredible songs about love and loss but having the ability to connect with the female narrator in “My And My Dog” makes it more powerful.

Calexico and Iron & Wine are putting out another collaboration album!
They had previous done an EP 14 years ago -- In The Reins -- which to my mind is one of the greatest EPs of all-time. (If you haven't, do check it out.)

You'd really dig it I'm sure.
It's entirely possible you've heard "Dead Man's Will" from that album already -- it's been on several TV shows and movies including Friday Night Lights.
It's an incredible album. High hopes for the new one of course, but just getting to hear them play the songs from In The Reins will be worth every penny.
