The old movie guy says, Elisha Cook Jr. ftw!
Other old movie guy guesses - Raymond Burr, Peter Lorre, Dan Duryea.

Couple more hints:
- #1-4 started their careers in the 1960s or earlier.
- #7-10 started in 1980s or later.
- 5 of the remaining 8 were born outside the US (including the top 3).

Rourke is #10. Still trying to figure out if that's who chedda meant when he guessed Mickey Rooney. Would be a fun thought experiment to swap all their roles.

The only woman I can think of who has action/ dramatic dying chops is sigourney Weaver.

Re: Gunpowder's Gold Star Trivia
Looks like the last few are kicking everyone's ass, so will drop a few more hints:
#1 - Surprised no one has gotten this one yet. The line of thinking that came up with a couple of the others should lead you to him.
#2 - Not someone I would have thought of this high. Was definitely in a ton of movies, but had a tendency to kind of blend in. Does have one of what would be on a short list of "Most Memorable Movie Deaths" though.
#7 - The one woman on the list. Was surprised she was this high, but has been in a good number of action/violent movies. Not Weaver.
#9 - Least name recognition on this list, but has "been in stuff." Last name is a homonym for another on the list.

Christopher Lee is #1.
Another hint: The three remaining have all appeared in the same movie franchise, though in different installments. It is not Star Wars.

Re: Gunpowder's Gold Star Trivia
I had that thought as I woke up this morning - I do obsess on these things.
But it didn't fit the clues, so I gave up and looked at the list. I won't give the names...
