So far done whole chickens, wings, brisket and now wings again. Just sitting by a fire is really nice. Also makes me want a regular charcoal grill.
you can probably score a weber at a big box store for ~$100 this weekend
I love charcoal but at this point someone paying me 100 is only way I’d get one. Im just trying to get dinner on table man

The gf wants to get me a grill. She wanted it to be a surprise, but she was worried she would've got me something that wasn't right or good enough.

I'm good at grilling, but have no idea what kind and type I should get. I've used your basic charcoal and I had a hand me down gas one previously.

All the ones these days look like spaceships. And I kinda want a smoker too so I can do brisket and ribs.

What do you guys think?

First thing is to set a budget. Then decide what matters more - the flavor from charcoal, or the ease of use from gas.

If it’s gas, get a Weber. If it’s charcoal, it matters less, but also get a Weber.

Yeah, I’ve learned the hard way that if you need replacement parts, the hardware stores only have two options: Weber or nothing.

Webers have really gone up in price over the last 5 years, huh? (Still totally worth it assuming the lifespan hasn’t decreased.)

I’m downsizing. I had a four burner but we used to hold a lot of cookouts at our last house. Now it’s mostly cooking for 3 people so mi may do a two burner.

What I really like about my egg fake is that you close off the air, and the fire goes out, and your charcoal stays good.

I have a big 4 burner gas grill and then a little rd-d2 looking smoker that can also charcoal a couple of steaks on. The smoker was maybe 100$ I think. Nothing fantastic, but it serves its purpose.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Weber fireball with a chimney starter. If you’re doing anything hot enough to sear it’ll take the same amount of time to heat up an starter full of charcoal as it will to get it anywhere close to that hot with a gas grill.

I used my new grill for first time last night. I didn't realize how bad my old grill was, honestly. I knew it had some cold spots, but dang it was a whole new world. (Weber Spirit 2 burner - I downsized like I said i would)

So....I have a char-broil 5 burner grill. And the other night I went out to make dinner and it was like there was no propane left in the tank. Very very low flames. I switched out the tank for a new one, and the same thing. I tried just going with one burner on, and there was more flame, but as soon as I switched on more burners, the flames just got lower and lower.

So....any advice? I saw something online about maybe the regulator is stuck, but not sure what to do about that.

(Ended up breaking out my weber charcoal grill. It works, but I do like the convenience of just flipping on the switch and having the grill ready to go a few minutes later)

I think you need a new Regulator. Easy to install and only around 10 bucks at your hardware store. Google propane grill regulator to see what it is and how to install.

My girlfriend bought me a Traeger for my birthday. I made 3 racks of baby back ribs and some honey chipotle pork belly.

It all came out so good. This purchase was clutch.

I bought a Traeger earlier this year and it has given me nothing but trouble. Replaced all the electronics in it because it wouldn't get hot enough (only to about 350). Finally replacing the control board got it to work. But Thursday, went out to get it started for the turkey and the auger wouldn't turn. When it worked, it was great. But it's completely unreliable. Luckily Costco is amazing and will take it as a return.

I'm probably going to order a REC TEC tonight to get their holiday bundle. I've read nothing but good things about them and they even have a 6 yr warranty. Some good features that will be a good upgrade from the Traeger too.
