Chrome help

Post by The Sybian »

Been having weird problems with Chrome the past couple weeks. Thought I fixed it, but my computer automatically rebooted with a Windows update, and Chrome is fucked again. It works fine for a few minutes, then any new tabs I open, I get the grey "untitled" tab bar, and a blank screen. The weird thing is, previous tabs still work. I can open new links in The Swamp or send emails, for example, but if I try a new tab, or a new website in this tab, I get the error.

I've tried uninstalling Chrome, I've turned off all extensions. Nothing works. I found numerous suggestions online, nothing works.

I'm still using Windows 7 on this computer. I feared the upgrade to Windows 10 when that came out, then forgot about it. I tried installing 10 today, went through the entire process and multiple reboots, only to have it fail, and reinstall 7.

Another weird thing, I keep going into "properties" and setting Chrome's "compatibility" to Windows 7, and it stays for an hour or so, then I check back, and it keeps resetting itself to Vista. Any ideas on this?

Have you tried sucking it off a trailer hitch?

Yeah, tried that. Windows 10 failed.

Have you run a virus/malware scan?

In regards to Windows, can your Win7 machine even handle Win 10?
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I think I figured it out, no thanks to you fucks. I downloaded Windows 10, it completed the upgrade, boots in 10, then reverts itself back to 7. Error message could have hundreds of reasons, but first suggestion is to uninstall McAfee antivirus. I disabled McAfee years ago, but it wouldn't uninstall so I left it there. Uninstalled McAfee today, and Chrome is working perfectly. I should probably try upgrading to 10 again, but I'm so thrilled to have properly functioning internet on my computer I don't want to fuck it up.
