Wood, Bauer, Gray and Castillo lined up for the weekend. Been a few years since they've had a core four to the starting staff with that kind of pedigree.A_B wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:33 am The worst part about the Reds having even an inkling of a chance of postseason is that I have to hope that the Pirates play well and knock off some of these central teams, too. After the Reds sweep the Cubs this weekend it's gonna be a tight one til the end of the season.
Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
Well, after a strong July, the Giants seem to be reverting back to what we knew they were back in June.
And, of course they didn't make any moves for the future.

Betts breaks the $400m barrier or he's gone. He's already won a ring in that bastion of free will anyway.

I still have the Mets @ 25-1 from the start of the season to win the World Series. They are on fire right now.

I want you to win that money! And beat the Yankees in the series! (Nothing against the Yankees, but it would make all the baseball intelligentsia throw up in their collective mouths.)degenerasian wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 8:43 am I still have the Mets @ 25-1 from the start of the season to win the World Series. I can’t believe the Mets were only 25-1 to start the year. That’s a good example of why you almost always get terrible futures odds betting on big market teams.sancarlos wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 9:36 amI want you to win that money! There are a lot of bad teams in baseball. Here were the opening day odds.Joe K wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 10:19 amI can’t believe the Mets were only 25-1 to start the year. Pretty sure I know one of the guys who was just tussling for the eugenio Suarez home run ball just now. He didn’t end up with but still looked happy. I think they knew each other.

Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
The Tigers have now won consecutive games for the first time since winning three in a row to end May. It is also marks their first consecutive home wins since sweeping their home-opening series of three games from the Royals from Apr 4-7. They were 7-3 after that sweep and are 28-75 since, including 13-39 at home (and actually 12-38 in their last 50 at Comerica).
They are 9-5 on the season against KC, including 5-0 at home. Against everyone else, 26-73 overall and 11-39 at home.

I think the guy in the jersey behind the guy that ended up with is the guy I had some classes with. Not positive on second viewing.

Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
Gehrig faced Cleveland 23 times in 1936, the Yankees have played Baltimore 17 times so far this year (Torres has started 15). Torres is better than Gehrig.

He’s named after the first Kentucky Derby winner so of course he’s a stud.
(I doubt that is what he is named for)

Also, Aquino maybe is going the full Bautista, and I am here for it.
Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
The swing revamp is insane. I'd definitely be more confident here than generic mechanical tweaks or "seeing the ball better" or BSOML.

Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
I am SO used to seeing this with guys who leave the Reds, not them actually try and fix something with a player still here. Hell, he was even cut off the 40 man this last off-season, went unclaimed and re-signed. So he's kinda maybe like Encarnacion too, who found it after being cut. Dunno. Just enjoying the hell out of the ride. He always had MASSIVE power potential in the minors, but never came close to unlocking the rest of it in terms of a decent plate approach as he climbed the ladder. Funny thing was, all the scouting on him was that he was a studious hitter and eager to learn. So maybe they finally got the right coach with him. Baseball is a weird game, man.

The article I saw said this spring training he got some pointers, the main one being that open stance to start with. ANd he crushed in Louisville this season.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 2:33 pmI am SO used to seeing this with guys who leave the Reds, not them actually try and fix something with a player still here. Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
Yes, he clearly got some massive coaching on a swing change this spring. No question. My point above that it was better late than never and that it is unusual that the Reds have coaches who will do this - usually guys have to leave the Reds to undergo swing changes that save their careers (Encarnacion, Justin Turner)A_B wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 2:36 pmThe article I saw said this spring training he got some pointers, the main one being that open stance to start with. Had Sportscenter on this morning, and a scroll across the bottom said "Bichette's 2 HR not enough as Dodgers Beat jays".
Dodgers won 16-3.

Re: MLB Regular Season 2019
Well, he's no Aquino.
And it's not like there wasn't another, much better storyline in the game when Kershaw passed Koufax as winningest Dodger lefty. Just very weird.

You are not allowed to experience tigers joy at this point in the season. But surely you put ten bucks on your boys.
