and if Jake Arrieta didn't have an insane year, it would be a battle of two, two-time Cy Young award winners won in different leagues.

Re: MLB Post Season 2019
Well that sucked. Easily the most disappointed I’ve ever been leaving a stadium. I have zero hope for tonight. So 2017 is being imitated pretty perfectly given my adorable arrogance yesterday.

Where are all the fucking posts about this shit ump. Two of those strikes to Correa in the 8th weren’t even close.

I have a couple of sheckles on Washington tonight at +165 AND a few more for the entire series at +195. They legalized sports betting here in Iowa.
How long have you been a Black quaterback?
Re: MLB Post Season 2019
Per some stats guys on Twitter, Kendrick’s HR tonight is a top-10 play all-time for championship probability added.
Other things that were interesting (at least to me) are that 3 of the top-11 are from Game 7 in 1960, and Rajai Davis’ HR of Chapman is the all-time biggest play for a team that didn’t ultimately win.

We’re 3 outs away from a third franchise in the 4 majors winning their first title this year. Has that happened in the last 60 years?
I can think in 1999, the Stars and Spurs won, and the Rams first Super Bowl (although not their first NFL title) occurred the following January.

Either the Nationals win in the next ~15 minutes or we’re about to see one of the greatest baseball games of all time.

I’m not joking when I say this, if any of you mutherfuckers ask me if I’m OK just want you to know, I fucking hate you. No joke. I find out you lose your job tomorrow, I laugh. You get herpes? Deserved. Fuck off with that shit right now.

Good lord. Zimmerman’s got some pythons. He should go the Klu route with his Jersey.

Re: MLB Post Season 2019
Ump was all over the place all night on both teams. I don't know if I've seen more consistently worse strike zones in a series in a long while.
That said, the K on Correa in the 8th was egregious. I know it's a sweeping pitch but that ball never got close to the plate. Sorry to Astros fans for that.
Also that said, can't leave 10+ guys on base and win. Had all the chances in the world and just didn't cash them. Fun series. I lost money on it.

So Mattress Mack gets to keep his profits. But the people who bought had to see their team lose AND have to pay for their mattresses. Double whammy.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.
Re: MLB Post Season 2019
@UmpireAuditor should have his report up pretty soon. Gives the correct % then the misses split by team.
(That said the Correa call was egregious and Wolf is lucky it came without men on base and less than two outs or else it would have been treated like a much bigger deal.)

I mean, you can bitch about the Correa call.. and you'd be right. But I think it was game 3(?) where pretty much the exact same ineptitude went the other way in a similar situation against the Nats.
And the call the other night on the interference play with Turner was one of the worst calls at that level I've ever seen.

As well-built as the Astros are, and all the spin rates the Luhnow crew are infusing into the organizational philosophy. And all the tanking they did to get all those high draft picks to build out that lineup...
I’d love to know if it was a numbers cruncher who whispered into Luhnow’s ear saying that having a quality LH arm in the BP in wasn’t that important.

Gurriel’s handling of that throw forced the ump to make a call (and he setup so it happened that way). Until the rule is changed, the call gets made that way each time.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 9:36 am I mean, you can bitch about the Correa call.. and you'd be right. I assume it was less “LOOGYs don’t matter” and more “our best wouldn’t be someone we’d trust” (and I think maybe Pressly is a reverse splits guy?).

seems everyone is ok enough to stop talking about the series

I think the bigger question would be: Is the Houston Astros organization finished showering after so thoroughly shitting themselves?Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 8:17 am seems everyone is ok enough to stop talking about the series

And now everyone here can feel a little better about their team losing.

You're lying if you haven't gone over the alternative history version in your head (LeMahieu I'm guessing)

I'm pretty sure if the Yankees or Astros had won, McCann would have crashed the ceremony.

On the flip side, they are morphing into Cup winning Caps, and it's hilarious.

I demand that the Astros right this wrong by paying me the amount I would have won on my bet on the Dodgers to win the 2017 World Series.mister d wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 2:05 pm Astros "reportedly" used video to steal signs: https://theathletic.com/1363451/2019/11 ... -baseball/

Re: MLB Post Season 2019
This probably deserves its own thread. Should Hinch be banned for life? What about the players? What should their punishment be if MLB determines the Astros cheated through the entire 2017 postseason? And what happens if more cheating is uncovered from the past two postseasons? Would we actually see players banned from the sport?

Re: MLB Post Season 2019
Why’s that? They also engaged in fraud detrimental to the sport. It would seem setting an example for future bad actors would be a wise move...The team should forfeit draft picks [trombone sound], but perhaps suspending the position players from the 2017 roster for a significant amount of games and voiding their postseason shares would show that MLB isn’t just sorta serious about this stuff.*
*If the cheating was systemic throughout the entire 2017 PS.
