I'm here in Colorado Springs for a couple of weeks with my folks (my Mom's been sick...doing better now...home from the hospital...I'm here to help out), and I'm trying really really hard to not talk politics at all with my very Mormon parents.

But my father last night said, when I showed him the NY Times alert on my phone about the altered 'transcript', "Trump's gotta go".

Of course, then he started in on how Elizabeth Warren was going to raise everyone's taxes, but baby steps...

Jealous, but not surprised. I read an article recently (May have been posted here) indicating his support among Mormons is way lower than Evangelicals.

The Trump family is just so hilariously stupid. Ivanka is the smartest by far and she’s basically like Anna Faris’ character in Born In Translation.

Not going to link to any here but a number of rightwing outlets/Twitter feeds have already posted the name of the person who it’s believed to be.

I mean, we all know by now that this is an administration of crooks, liars and well-dressed thugs, but to see this in black and white is still really disturbing.

7 takeaways from Marie Yovanovitch’s and Michael McKinley’s Ukraine testimony
Yovanovitch says Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland urged her to tweet her support of President Trump to help save her job.

“He hadn’t been aware of” the campaign against her, Yovanovitch said, adding that, “he said, you know, you need to go big or go home. You need to, you know, tweet out there that you support the president, and that all these are lies and everything else.”

It'll be a cacophony - once a few boos are heard, they'll probably be under orders to crank up the marching bands.

Here's where I am with the Nationals (most of them, anyway) standing with Trump today...To the people who say, "Enoch, most professional athletes are actually considerably conservative."

That of course, is true.

However, if you are still supporting Trump in November, 2019 you’re either ridiculously ignorant (willfully or not) or simply a Machiavellian monster. No two ways around it.

I'm sure there are equivalent centrists who believe showing up but not actively seeking attention is a safe middle ground. They're wrong, but I wouldn't say the team is 20 MAGA and 5 decent if only 5 skipped.

I don't agree. I think you can be "unwilfully" but ridiculously ignorant in certain situations, of which "young professional athlete who is likely mentored by conservative leaning teammates" is near the top depending on how the information is filtered to you and how little you care to pick it up elsewhere.

There's the list. I'd find it hard to believe Juan Soto is both plugged in politically and making a clean, conscious decision to show his support to this administration.

That's a lot of words to say willfully ignorant.

Or, are you saying baseball players shouldn't be able to vote until they've cleared how many years of MLB service time?

Yeah, the ONLY downside to the Caps winning was being reminded that Ovie is a Putin knob-slobberer and TJ Oshie is a Trumper.

I didn't need that in my head, but I've been able to mostly compartmentalize it.

It's like, Tom Cruise is a fucked up person, but I can't help but watch his movies. It's easy for me to "boycott" Woody Allen movies because I find him insufferable, weird kid fucking is just a bonus.
