Gretzky used to cheat up-ice in his day. Removal of the two-line pass rule means he would have 200 goals (175 of which would be breakaways). Also the lack of hooking, holding, etc would result in even more chances.

Good point about the clutching and grabbing back then. But on the other hand, the forwards didn’t play much defense in the 1980s. Lots of 8-5 games back then.

No way. Curling is really advanced now. The sweeping alone is different.

And I was kidding about Bruce Lee but I have heard that argument.

Not even so much pads and sizing as the entirety of the Butterfly style, which there were maybe 5 guys that were doing that for the entirety of Gretz' career? (Before you guys kill me, I'm talking prime years. I know he played through the mid 90s and was seeing a lot more of it. I mean the years where he was putting up 150pts+ per season)
