Mel Brooks said that he (Mel) deserves no credit for Get Smart and that his name was on it, just so Buck would have the chance to do it. The whole show was Buck's. One of my favorite shows when I was a kid.

Fantastic obit, ostensibly written by the deceased.

Interesting personal note, Ken wrote an article in the Register about my sister and brother-in-law's engagement. At the time they were working at competing TV stations in DSM.

Yeah, Corrigan was a giant in college athletics, and it seems like one of those guys that everyone liked. My mom taught several of his sons in high school when he was the AD at UVA.

This one is pretty obscure...Bill Robinson. Canadian basketball ball of famer. 5'11" and no 3 point line. 1974 all tournament at the world championship. 1976 Olympic team Played at Simon Fraiser.
Only reason this one crossed my radar was his daughter is a friend from W&L.

Kind of the Buckner of SS. Really good career overshadowed by the error, plus being Jeter’s Wally Pipp, plus being the other guy in the McGriff for Alomar and Carter trade.

That sucks. He was one of my all time favourite players.

God he was a great fielder. I would argue that he would be in Cooperstown if he was a Dodger, Met or Yankee during the bulk of his career.

For Blue Jays fans, Fernandez was the main guy in the trade. McGriff and Alomar were new and Carter was a journeyman. Fernandez was everyone's favorite player. The one time when Bill Madlock took Fernandez out on a slide and broke his elbow, i think Torontonians wanted him detained for questioning.
