New Brunswick - the foreign land one
I think that is where Jen has picked out for us to move. I am on board. Four years to clear quinn from college and then make this happen.

Re: New Brunswick
It's a lovely place. Good luck making it happen. I'm right there with you. Puerto Vallarta might already be too expensive for us, so we're going back to Thailand next year to look around some more.

How do you sort out citizenship/residency issues?

My wife is already doing the research - she teaches and is a Montessori specialist and very often those jobs are advertised abroad - including Canada.

My wife is an educator as well (currently homeschooling all 3 of my boys/licensed as a speech therapist). Keeping my fingers crossed that Scotland secedes and rejoins EU, that my heritage there counts for something, and/or someone in the greater Edinburgh area needs her services.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:23 amMy wife is already doing the research - she teaches and is a Montessori specialist and very often those jobs are advertised abroad - including Canada.

Me being from Jersey made me think you were becoming Scarlet Knights fans.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

I assume this means either St John or Moncton. Both fine choices. I grew up on the panhandle border so I can help there though can’t imagine why you’d move there. No matter where in the province you are, some rudimentary French will be helpful.

For God's sake! It's Canada, not Chad.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:22 am I think I can stream mlb, nfl and nba there too - is my understanding - so - that works.
Where in New Brunswick were you thinking?
The biggest city is pretty small, and it's not exactly the most cosmopolitan part of Canada. And it's about 1/3rd Francophone, but the further you get from the Quebec border, the less prevalent French is.
But it's pretty cheap, and the cliche about Maritimers being some of the nicest people you'll ever meet is 100% true.
I've been there a few times, most recently 3 years ago, so happy to give advice.

You really should show up on day 1 wearing a bunch of Rutgers gear, and act all confused.

Home of the reversing falls.
Haven't been there in a long time.
But an old girlfriend of mine is from there and she says that the town is experiencing some nice new developments.
And the Sea Dogs play in the Quebec Junior Hockey League.

Re: New Brunswick
If you do end up in St John you'll be a right across the bay from me in Digby. I haven't actually been to St. John yet, and really other than a few overnights in Fredricton we've only driven through New Brunswick and not explored it at all. I'm surely biased but I think Nova Scotia blows New Brunswick out of the water. Halifax is such a great city, it would be nice to be within an hour or two of it, and so many other great regions and towns.
I've only been out here three years but if you have any Maritimes (or Nova Scotia) questions, I'd answer whatever I can.
