You edit well!

When I travelled to Vegas (with my buddies... before marriage) Binions was my favourite spot. It smelled like a dirty lung, but I remember playing craps next to an honest to God rodeo cowboy who was in town competing at the Rodeo Championships.

Umm, I'm no finance wizard, but I don't think this is how to gauge whether a recession is coming or not.

Best Buy just proved that a recession is not coming soon
If a U.S. recession was lurking within the next 90-days to 12 months, people probably wouldn’t be leasing out big screen TVs and refrigerators at a nice clip from Best Buy.
It's about their lease-to-own program, like Aaron's. But this topic has to be clickbaity bullshit. TVs are ridiculously cheap right now. And financing one monthly makes good budgetary sense for some.

But indicative of a recession? C'mon.

With TVs as cheap as they are now, if that many people need to lease to afford TVs, maybe that is a bad economic sign. Also, if you can't afford to buy a new TV, maybe you don't get a new TV, but find a used one or something. It's amazing how "luxury" items are standard issue. I feel like most minimum wage employees have a better phone than my iPhone 6.

VA says veteran suicide rate is 17 per day after change in calculation
“The benefit of separating out subgroups is that it can help us identify higher risk subgroups of the whole, which may be able to help us determine where and how to best focus resources,” Bryan said.
Sure. But all that really happened was semantics was injected and the entire military community is still affected but with different calculations.

The US Military Is a Socialist Organization

Affordable housing and food, tuition assistance, and universal health care are hallmarks of a social welfare system—and life in the armed forces.

Since my marriage at 23 to a career Marine officer, I have never had to exist in the messiness of what we in the military community refer to as living “on the economy.” I have benefited from a tax-free housing allowance; the ability to shop for wholesome, subsidized food at the commissary; nearly free health care; and generous tuition assistance, which my husband and I were able to use to help pay for our master’s degrees. When my husband retires from the service, he will still have income in the form of a pension. This is the very definition of social welfare.
And some Reddit comments also note that our pay is very fair when you look at ranks. Not a crazy level of pay disparity from lowest ranks to the highest. Also, it isn't tied to gender either. There is no "77 cents on the dollar" arguments either.

If you want an extremely off the wall example of what can happen in the military, here you go.

That's wonderful.

Around here, the city has commissioned artists - some better than others - to paint transformer and traffic signal boxes by the sides of the road.

A little thing, but it really adds something nice.
