Re: Racism
Easy way to smoke him out would be to post on the town facebook page about the differences between pro and college basketball rules but get them all wrong. No way this type could handle "one way pro and college basketball are alike is that technical fouls do not count towards a player's personal foul total" or something like that.

I'm definitely known as "the boy who cried penis" in town.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: Racism
Though I guess if I wanted to stir shit, one way to go would to do what you guys suggest and innocently ask if anyone recognizes the back of the note.

Re: Racism
It's abhorrent either way, but the cop is apparently not the same guy in the "make whites great again" hat as has been floating around twitter.
Again, both clearly terrible people.

At least the totally Non-Racist National Review is on top of the 'White Woman/Black Birdwatcher' story...

Is it one of those 'saying the quiet parts out loud' moments that they know where the gay pick up spots are?

I hope this brings attention to a very important issue -- those awful people who insist it's okay for their dogs to be off leashes.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 3:37 pm At least the totally Non-Racist National Review is on top of the 'White Woman/Black Birdwatcher' story...

Also, this subreddit has a whole bunch of videos relating to this incident. Minneapolis might burn down -- because all the cops are guarding that murderer's house.

But in any case the Templeton-Ozzie Smith trade was maybe not one of the most one-sided ever, but it certainly deserves honourable mention.

Not at the time, though. Templeton was better than Ozzie and was a year younger.Pruitt wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 4:12 pmDoesn;t sound right.EdRomero wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 3:00 pm I didn't know about this Garry Templeton, Whitey Herzogg story http://www.wbur.org/onlyagame/2020/06/0 ... -templeton

That goddam Cardinal Devil Magic.
Edit: Plus the Cards also gave up Sixto Lezcano, who was 27 and had had some pretty good years himself (13.4 bWAR in 1977-79).
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Re: Racism
Yeah, Ozzie was already a great fielder for the Padres but couldn't hit at all at that stage of his career. He wasn't exactly a great hitter for the Cardinals either, but mediocre was more than sufficient to be really valuable considering that he's probably the best defensive player in baseball history.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 4:22 pmNot at the time, though. Re: Racism
Saw some anecdote that a player was complaining about Ozzie getting playing tim despite not hitting. Then he made like three amazing stops in one inning and the other guy just said. “Oh yeah”

The Padres should have played on Astroturf.
Speaking of Ozzie, this fight was posted a few weeks ago.

Re: Racism
So I don’t think it was this thread but my company are being pussies about doing something so I threw down the gauntlet today.
I’ve been at this company for 12 years this month and I just have to say this. When I said I meant that not putting out a statement wasn’t the hill I was going to die on I meant it. I’m a grown ass man and more than capable from divorcing my personal feelings from business but if we’re not going to put out a statement as a company recognizing Kristina, Tenille and Dan’s right to exist equally what are we even doing here? There’s no decision in my mind. At the end of the day I’m only a salaryman here as the Japanese put it but Tenille, Kristina and Dan are my brothers and sisters. I’ve made my opinion plain and this is literally my last statement about it unless asked but we’re being cowards if we don’t. I’m not putting them on the spot. No one put me up to this and if there’s any repercussions they should be mine and mine alone. But with 24 hours to think about it I'm more convinced than ever. Either we are committed to racial equity or we’re not. And if we are there’s literally zero downside to doing it in an honest and heartfelt manner and letting the entire world know about it.
We’re better than this. I really believe that. Otherwise we’re just laboring to make money for companies like Gannett/Gatehouse that use private equity capital from plutocrats to destroy newspapers and diminish journalism. And I have zero interest in working at that company.

I don’t think I was aware of that. Watching six of them pound on Clark, I’ll have to rethink my hatred of the Cards.

How do I not remember that brawl? And Mike Alrdrete with the flying headbutt. Creative attack there.

One of my elementary school friends won a contest where he got to be a bat boy for a Hall of Fame game in Cooperstown between the Giants and Twins in the early 90s. Will Clark was the one player that he specifically mentioned being a jerk to him.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 6:24 pm I don’t think I was aware of that. There’s a non-zero chance this shit gets really dark. Like maybe Miller just decides to try and set off a race war bad.

I think I’ve mentioned before that the first in person confederate flag I remember seeing was outside a nascar pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-tailgate driving through Dover DE, and it wasn’t just one.
