I believe if you scroll back far enough you will see me mention a bottle of Cab Sav. And I tidied up another. So, a bottle and a quarter of red wine. In about an hour while making dinner.

So, The wife and I tried out a new summer cocktail tonight. Pretty good. It’s called Satan’s Whiskers which is a pretty cool name, if you ask me. Here’s the recipe, if you care.

For two drinks, mix in a cocktail shaker/mixing glass:

3 shots gin
1 shot dry vermouth
1 shot sweet vermouth
1 shot orange liqueur (mandarin Napoleon or grand marnier or Cointreau or triple Sec)
1 shot orange juice
2 shake of bitters
Ice

Shake and strain into martini glasses.

Drink with pinky finger extended.

Made Blood and Sand the other night. Equal parts scotch (I used Laphroaig), sweet vermouth, cherry herring, blood orange juice. Except I couldn't find blood orange, had to use California navel.

It's a Danish cherry liqueur/brandy. I thought it would be hard to find, but it wasn't. Near your Cointreaus and whatnot.

So when I think I'm near the bottom of a bottle, I go to finish it and then I realize I wasn't as close to the bottom as I thought, even though I make this mistake every damn time, and I will get through this Jim Beam, so I can move on to other drinks.

The night kicked with stoli and soda w/lime but Moved over to the Spanish cocktail of Red wine and Mexican coke when it was time to prepare the bufana, with which I consumed with an ice cold yuengling, before settling down on the swamp with a high west prairie fire on a rock before heading to bed.

So to answer the original question: yes.

One of the few good things about the quarantine is that a lot of the local breweries are delivering their beer with no delivery charges.

Fresh as can be too.

This was inconceivable just a few years ago - after all, they just started selling beer (but not wine or liquor) in grocery stores like 5 years ago.

The problem here is you need like a 4 case minimum, and they sell out in 10 seconds.

It’s fucked up, but one benefit is that Other Half has never been more accessible. Before it was a mile walk to the train, 35-50 minutes into Penn, then like a half hour subway with a little walking on either side and can’t bring much of anything home. Now there’s no traffic and you don’t have to park, just pull up and get a trunk drop.

A nice 13.5% baleywine from New Image aged on sugar maple. This beer is killer. The sweetness totally adds a layer of caramel. It looks like its an experiment so a beer I'll sadly not taste again.

Carton, Icarus, Bolero Snort to name a few. I follow them on Facebook, and get updates. They are all doing home delivery. They all do onsite sales, too, but they are all too far away. They've all had some can releases I was really interested in trying, but they sold out before I saw their posts. Those 3 have one delivery day a week for my county, max of 50 homes. I'm at the point where I feel ok going to a store, but they haven't been getting the beers I wanted, so I didn't bother venturing out.

Very interesting point on Other Half. If I could justify to my wife why I need to drive all the way to Brooklyn to pick up beer, I'd do that. I went to OH once, 4 years ago. Left at 6:00 am, lined up several blocks away on a day that the heat index was 117. Fortunately they opened the doors early because of the heat, because there was no shade anywhere near the brewery. Still had to sit outside for 3 hours, but it was worth it!

Oooo, Icarus is interesting. Have the same issue with reduced or no stock at our local store, although they did get Heady in last week.

OH is worth the shot right now, until they ship to NJ it'll never be easier to stock up at home.

Icarus is phenomenal, IMO. Their IPAs are just a notch below OH, and I was going to say every beer I've had from them has been great, but I checked Untappt, and didn't love the last one I had. White milk stout with hazelnuts. Not a big hazelnut fan, and apparently it was too sweet. That's why I need Untappt, because I didn't remember that beer. A couple times at the store I've checked, and didn't remember trying a beer I debated buying. Life would be so much easier if I was just a Miller High Life guy.

Yeah, my only issue with them is there's still too much lactose and/or fruit in a lot of the IPAs that ship here. The straight up stuff is always great.
