Even though he was an all-time great/is the current coach at Georgetown, I feel Ewing is strongly associated by most with the NBA. Like, if things take a turn for the worse for him, would the NBA re-consider things?

It also made me feel old/sad when I did the math and realized that he’s gotta be like 57 years old. A guy that age who must now be over 300 pounds is not low-risk by any means.

DSG, I think that’s got to be partly due to your age, right? He was an NBA player in your memory, not a Hoya. But I remember when he was the next big thing coming out of high school into Georgetown. And then fulfilling the promise and dominating in college.

I just feel like some may think it's a bad look to try to force the league to go on when one of its all-time greats (he made the NBA 50 at 50) dies from the virus at the heart of an ongoing pandemic.

If things take a significant negative turn, we'll see the college sports reaction in the near-immediate future. Many campuses are opening up for football players a week from Monday.

It's a different sport, but I don't think the people who make the decisions about the money machine of major college football give a shit about the barely over-.500 head basketball coach at a school that plays FCS-level football, regardless of his name and the basketball notoriety of the school he coaches. His NBA reputation may affect that sport more.

I’m sure Brady has some pill to make him and tiger impervious to the effects of rainwater, which is a seriously unfair advantage.

That really picked up steam after (1) Brady showed up and (2) they shifted to the modified alternate shot format which meant that the QBs couldn’t completely hide. I’d love to see that format more. Also, I’d love to hear Russell Wilson’s call with his CPA after the match. Elite tax writeoff there!

It got a lot better when I taped it mid-match and watched it the next day. The commercial breaks were getting pretty brutal.

But overall it was very entertaining. The dynamic between Tiger and Phil was hilarious at times.

Tiger has the personality of a dead branch.

That said I liked it a lot. We had fun betting on it. Making wagers against Brady hitting anything where he was aiming was pretty easy money.

I found the pros lining up the QBs for putts highly entertaining. I had a four-caddy once, and having someone give you even a few tips as you work through an unfamiliar course felt like cheating a little.

Tiger and Phil were giving exact instructions on each putt... Especially Phil.

Just got word yesterday that my daughter's academy team is starting up on June 1. They are an ECNL team, so were going to follow ECNL protocol. There was a national meeting this weekend and they gave the green light to follow protocol set up by some team of experts. We are supposed to have a video conference this week to explain the safety precautions and steps taken to minimize exposure. Not sure how I feel about this. I'm excited for my daughter to get back to playing, but I know there is a chance we will look back and wonder how we could have been so stupid to throw kids together on a soccer field.

Right now, NJ has been steadily decreasing for 3 or 4 weeks, and the hospitals are starting to get back to normal. There are still new cases every day, but the units converted to COVID are returning to their original purposes, and the emergency is passed. My wife is convinced we will see another surge, but surprisingly, she is in favor of them resuming soccer. From everything I've read and heard, it seems like almost all transmissions occur indoors. I'm not too concerned about kids getting sick, but kids spreading the virus to each other and exposing their families. Maybe if they are distanced and moving around, they don't get exposed to a large enough viral load to become carriers. Then there is the issue of parents milling around practices and when they start playing games, are we all going to sit 6 feet apart? And is 6 feet actually enough to matter? Who the fuck knows, but we are about to find out.

My daughter is too young to play ECNL, so her team plays in a local "Alliance League" made up of other ECNL teams and some of the best travel programs in the State. I think there are 10 teams and no league officials, so it'll be easier to schedule games and not get caught up in red tape.

Two Months Later, the Iditarod Champion May Finally Get a Ride Home
Over the past two months, he has lived with friends, taken his dogs for walks and tried to figure out some way, any way, to get out of Alaska. The dogs, though, are not at all bothered about being stranded in the wrong hemisphere.

“Dogs are a lot better than us humans to live in the moment,” Waerner said. “They like to train. We go walking. They enjoy it.”

ENCL doesn't follow NJYS protocols? where are they playing? biggest hurdle is the lack of field access for MNJYS or EDP -- travel cancelled until the fall, EDP has plans to play in July -- but all dependent on field access..

The recommendations from ECNL point to local protocols, but it is a national level league. Our club has ECNL teams at all ages on both girls and boys side (we left the US Dev academy on the boys side two years ago)

I don't have any of the specifics yet. They practice at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, rules probably don't apply to Catholic School fields. I'll let you know when we get some answers, I think ECNL held a conference with the teams last night. I'm hoping that EDP cancels. Her travel club issued refunds to the teams playing MidNJ, will issue if EDP cancels. They are planning on playing if EDP moves forward, which I don't expect, but who knows. She will be crushed if she leaves the travel team without playing with them again.

Not sure if I posted here, but we had a controversy over my daughter and few other kids in different age groups getting offers from the academy for next year. I don't have time to explain, and don't want to repeat if I already posted, but I felt like an agent trying to negotiate my clients interests between two teams vying for her rights. Actually, academy had her interests over theirs, and they gained my respect and trust in how they handled it. Great lesson, they assumed responsibility for failing to communicate with the travel team (first year of their affiliation). Academy took full blame, apologized, and asked for my input in making it right.

for six weeks we set up online sessions (2xday, 4days a week) for our kids -- just finished the season last week, and we issued refunds to the HS teams as they only play in the spring, and offered credits towards the fall season for all others -- gave option for refunds for those who wanted them (or needed them, no questions asked) -- pain in the ass writing all those checks!

i'll look for the other post - academy and travel .. two clubs but affiliated? interesting. little flaco was set to play w CSA this spring (no more travel since last fall).. and likely in the fall. already received invite from the HS coach (who also coaches at CSA) but is unsure if he'll play or not.. he want to run xc.. and can't do both at the same time.. spends his free non-screen time either playing soccer w friends or taking long runs... i'll play w them sometimes (try to run sessions w them while keeping them apart, mostly shooting dribling and passing no actual scrimmages)

Watchung Hills decided not to pay the trainers, so they are issuing refunds. I know Berkeley Heights decided to pay the trainers, which I think was a classy move, especially since most of them are here on work visas, so they aren't getting refunds, or maybe just partial refunds for ref fees and other incidentals. My daughters former team's trainer did Zoom sessions, so she at least earned the money, not sure what others did.
