Yeah, Gardner is in big, big trouble. In fact, considering how much more liberal CO is than AZ these days, could be fair to say he's done as well.

I feel like I've noticed this as well, though as always, who knows. But if true, the GOP is in big trouble well beyond this upcoming election.

I think that’s mostly because the Republicans have gone so insane that their “the Dems are going to do X” attacks are obviously bullshit.

This is a fallacy I see repeated so often - “They’re just going to call him a socialist anyway.” It doesn’t matter what the Rs say; what matters is what the voters believe. For better or worse, calling Biden an extremist won’t do much - even as he runs on the most progressive major-party-candidate platform in US history.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Yeah, we've talked about it a lot... The suburbs are increasingly fed up with the bullshit. I've noticed some of my "friends" on Facebook that are the "I'm not a fan of Trump, but..." are starting to get increasingly squirrelly. VERY upset about looting, while all around them normally quiet about politics soccer moms are lighting up the BLM hashtags and talking about learning things about racism they never knew before. It's driving them to come out of the woodwork and I'm thankful for that. Fucking ogres.

I know I can be a broken record, but this shit is not going to end well for Trump and the Republican Party... It's not sustainable to be seen as the party of racism and propping up a wannabe dictator. Wrong side of history matters to people. Even if it took the gruesome murder of a black man in broad daylight, on top of a pandemic, with the worst possible "leader" in our nation's history stoking the flames.

There's a point where this shit becomes unbearable for even the whitest of suburbanites. Not all, obviously, but in terms of a national election?

They are fucked.

To that end, the "genius" of nominating Biden is that what a lot of those suburban moms (and dads) want is just a return to normalcy more than anything else and Biden is essentially an avatar of that. If Biden can get elected and the Dems take back the Senate, the latter of which looks like a better than 50/50 shot right now, some major meaningful reforms are definitely possible.

The issue the GOP faces then is looking in the mirror at how extreme it has become. If they don't lose Texas in 2020, it's going to be in danger in 2024 very possibly and definitely by 2028. If Texas ever goes blue, that's the shooting match. The GOP is then a regional party. If you think I'm exaggerating look at the electoral history of California for the last 40 years or so. When these things happen, they can happen quickly.

It’s funny how you forgot to include the part where the Nebraska Democratic Party called for him to withdraw and voted unanimously to strip him of all party resources.

I did forget to include the part where the party chose to put ethics over unquestioned support of the chosen candidate. Good point.

Perhaps you missed that while also missing how "sorry we've already picked our candidate" as conversation ender is selectively applied inside the Dem party.

  • Lucy Flores alleged in March 2019 that Biden grasped her shoulders from behind and kissed the back of her head without her consent during a campaign event in 2014.
  • Sofie Karasek, a progressive organizer, was photographed holding hands and touching foreheads with Biden at the 2016 Academy Awards. Karasek said she felt Biden violated her personal space in that interaction.
  • Vail Kohnert-Yount, a former White House intern, said when she met Biden in 2013, he "put his hand on the back of my head and pressed his forehead to my forehead." Kohnert-Yount also said Biden called her a "pretty girl."
  • Caitlyn Caruso said that after she shared her story of sexual assault at a University of Nevada event in 2016, Biden hugged her "just a little bit too long" and put his hand on her thigh.
  • In June 2019, Biden told the brothers of a 13-year-old girl to "keep the guys away" from her at a campaign event.

But no texts so I guess you've got me.

The Bowman-Engel race is Exhibit A for the argument that the Democratic establishment doesn’t actually want progressive candidates, irrespective of electability and diversity considerations. That’s as blue of a district as there is in the country, and yet Clinton, Pelosi, et al. are backing the shitty conservative incumbent over the awesome young black progressive challenger.

It’s beyond perfect that the first Congressional candidate Hillary endorsed is the guy who just got caught on a hot mic at a BLM rally saying “the only reason I care is because I’m in a primary.”

Well, yeah. The borough president had a list of people who wanted to speak that day at the news conference. Engel wanted to speak. Why did he want to speak *at that particular news conference*? Because he was in a primary. Otherwise he wouldn't care about speaking at that event.

Obviously, a candidate in a primary would want to take advantage of the opportunity to get on camera. Duh.

He didn't say that the only reason he cares about police violence against Blacks was because he was in a primary.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Probably. Because it's based on omitting critical context for just about everything?

You know why you know so much about Bernie Sanders and his proposals? Because he took advantage of every chance he had to get on a stage or in front of a camera.

Yeah, its definitely that and not the explicit admission that social equality is more electoral priority than personal priority. Its great that people are starting to care more, but it should also be deeply humiliating for career politicians who are just now coming around.

"... about being one of the speakers at this news conference instead of someone else being one of the speakers at this news conference."

If you are equating speaking at a particular news conference with achieving social equality, then sure, that's bad.

I personally don't think some congressman being included as one of a host of speakers at a news conference really does a whole lot to achieve social equality.
