Bomani Jones pointed out that it's almost certainly not about the shirt. It's not a stretch to imagine that Gundy might not treat all of his athletes equally.

You guys don't run around in CNN and MSNBC shirts? For all the attacks against CNN from the Right, does anyone actually proudly tie their identity into being a CNN fan? I really hope not and kind of doubt it, but the Right really seems to take pride in being FoxNews, Breitbart or whatever devotees.

Renegotiations, and even re-renegotiations, happen all the time.
That's fine, but how many times can the owners go back (without opening their books) before you remove the blame from the players?
Like most of these things, the answer is "it depends."

If the NFL were serious, and of course we know they're not, there should be a no-strings make-whole payment to Kaepernick for the last three seasons with an equal donation to a charity or charities of his choice. Just a straight up "we fucked up and the only part we can fix is the monetary side" and go from there and they could credibly say they're doing anything they can now to fix the past.

(Yes, it would be a ton of money but (1) its the NFL, (2) it would be half charitable donation and (3) its still less than Jordan/Nike are doing just as image cleanup.)

He already won/settled his lawsuit with the NFL for the money side but the NFL should give an equivalent amount of money to organizations of Kaep’s choosing.

The league already announced a $250 million donation, which sounds amazing until you realize it is less than one team gets from the league's television deals.

Didn't the NFL already reach some settlement with Kaep?

The settlement should be considered the punitive damages with this being the good faith restoration. You'd actually be able to argue the NFL is doing everything they can, short of going back in time, to fix what happened with him. "That's what we had to do, this is what we realize we should do."

Three players and five staff test positive at Phillies HQ in Clearwater, 2 players and 3 staff at Lightning team HQ. Florida is Florida-ing about as we would have expected.

There are endless baseball players. Just have unlimited rosters and keep rotating minors guys as people go on 14 day quarantine. Doesn't seem that hard. If you blow dirty droplets they don't let you on the field and next guy comes up. There is no ascertainable difference in play beyond pitchers catchers and shortstops.

I think you're right. I mean, we could have, but between the abdication of any kind of federal oversight and roughly 30 or so percent of the population simply not giving a fuck I'm struggling to see how there's going to be any way to make even a "bubble site" work.

And I'd put the odds of football happening right now at about 25 percent, which frankly might be too high.

That thread is bonkers. And the shadiness of the ownership and the set up look really bad. But...

At some point, leagues are going to have to really, truly figure out what to do when a team has an outbreak and needs to quarantine. You can't just keep rescheduling, you'll never get the season in.

Not saying Sochi did the right thing here, just pivoting to the reality of the situation. I know smarter folks than I are working on this stuff, but clearly they didn't think it through in Russia, so maybe it's naive to assume.

Like, what happens if a team down at the Orlando MLS tourney has an outbreak? You can't reschedule 14 days later. Gotta be a forfeit, right? Or you bring in a team from second division? Can't really do that with all the points and perks though, right?

Oh, and btw, the headline/first tweet is misleading.

6 players got infected, but the entire team has to quarantine. I point that out because that tweet made it seem like some extreme situation.

It's not.

So can one strategy be for teams that you bring the infected guy on. Keep him away from everyone until you need him and then bam the other team is quarantining and your team wins by default.

I was wondering
1.) The company/person flying that plane is fairly easy to identify (i.e the NASCAR incident this weekend too).
2.) If this was done on a commercial basis who would say yes to doing that work?

The Orlando Pride have backed out of the women's soccer tournament that is supposed to start in a few weeks in SLC. They reported positive tests among players and staff. They hadn't even traveled out here yet.
