have you read Battle of Alberta? Great look at how the teams of the 80s were built.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Still 20 minutes to look like a fool and granted I only saw 6.5 of 12 games but VGK and Tampa are by far the two best performances of these exhibition games.

Aside from DeAngelo getting caught using slurs I’m not sure how this start could be any worse.

That didn't take long to be reminded of what playoff hockey is like. Going like gangbusters and a fight! Williams and Strome!

If you include the exhibitions earlier in the week, Carolina and New York just became the first franchises In NHL history to have played a game in all 12 months of the year.

I think if you concuss a guy and that guy is technically responsible for giving up a goal then the goal shouldn’t count.

Also I was going to say the Rangers will be first team eliminated (in 3) but will win the draft lottery.

Mrazek is such a bad G though. I can’t believe Carolina didn’t try to get someone like Lehner. They’d be a legit contender for the Cup with either of NYR’s goalies probably.

I’d love to know the story of how it came that the actual arena ads for each market are on the boards for these games instead of national NHL sponsors.

It’s weird how used you get to judging playoff results in context of home field/ice advantage when that no longer exists.

I'm sure I'll feel differently when VGK play their first game that matters, but getting to see the playoffs actually contested feels like more than we were going to get three months ago.

On the brighter side of this ot loss, this time it didn’t happen after the arena ran out of food. That had to suck to lose that game.

Yeah, was gonna make that point. Tkachuk's rep follows him there. If he's not usually such a dirty piece of shit, no one looks twice at that play. But hard to see any intent to injury/anything other than an accident there.

They take one for the last two years after the first stoppage under 10:00, but I think it's only a 90-second timeout to scrape the ice.

There's potentially six games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday which...this is so awesome. The pandemic sucks, but being stuck at home with six playoff games to watch is the best thing that's happened since early March.

While I certainly don't like tkachuk, he's a dirty player, but not that kind of dirty. Seems pretty clear that he was off balance by the time he contacted Scheifele.

Jets got just dominated overall other than the first 10 minutes, even though it was more or less even at 5on5 (in the sense that neither team could make anything happen really). With Scheifele (and Laine?) out Jets don't even have a chance to PP their way to a couple wins. I've fully joined the 7 other fanbases that lost/will lose game 1 and have mentally already won the #1 pick.

Yeah, I'd like to hope that was just some series management, take the focus and the heat of his team coaching tactic. Although I thought I read something that said they saw a different camera angle (straight down the blue line) that wasn't shown on TV that made it look worse. Doubt it though.

Yeah, Maurice mentioned the blue line camera. I thought I saw one angle where it was clear Tkachuk's blade came up. I realize that this is wholly different from soccer, but the blade coming up reminded me of players going studs up, or studs in, on a tackle. I've been on skates before, but have no idea if that movement is natural at all, or if it was just Matthew out of balance as well.
