I’m not familiar with St. George gin. Will have to try some.
Lately we’ve been enjoying cocktails that feature gin and lemon. My wife takes Kirkland gin and infuses it with lots of lemon peel. (We have a lemon tree.) Nice!
"we have a lemon tree" is such a cool low-key west coast flex.
Damn, I wasted 8+ years not doing it.
don't worry. climate change will make this possible in upstate ny in about 5 years. 10 tops.
Downside: The street with busy traffic is farther away here than where we lived in LA.
Upside: By being in high school and not elementary, the schoolchildren passing by our house should still have adequate arm strength to get them into traffic.

Deluge tonight in the greater Asheville area. Friends got their rental car flooded near Biltmore Village. Hillman brewery, near there has very good beer and almost great food. Is "almost great" above "very good"? Cause that's what I meant.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.

I suppose this identifiable reason was that it was bar food. Really, really good bar food.
Jealous that you're in AVL. We don't feel comfortable traveling. Looks like I'm gonna miss my nephew's wedding in October, but I just can't justify plane travel at this point. Especially since there will be several elderly people there including my mother I assume and I don't want to contemplate being responsible for getting my 70-year-old mother who has been a smoker for 55 years sick.

four roses single barrel. killed me twice.
So a friend from Ra-cha-cha stopped by with a bottle of Teelings, we emptied that and then went back to the four roses. I’m posting this from a very small public park near my house after having vomited 3 times this evening and I really don’t know how I gonna make it through Saturday.

Had to put my 17 almost 18-year-old cat down today. He's been a comfort through a lot of shit I've had to live through. I've had more than a few beers in his honour. Kicked my keg of homebrew, and one survivor of the 6er of 10% tallboys. Epic Day DIPA is an underappreciated CO beer. And bought an expensive ass bottle of 40-year-old port for the wife's upcoming "29th." Looking forward to breaking into that.

What is Ra-cha-cha? Did you make it back from the park?

It’s my friends nickname for Rochester. We taught together for 2 years back in the early 2000’s before he moved back up there.
Got into bed at 3 am with a nasty sore throat from the stomach acid. I’m getting too old for this shit.

Drinking my home brewed Black IPA. I fucking killed it with this batch. Why don't any breweries make black IPAs anymore? Firestone Walker, Stone, Clown Shoes all used to, and locally Carton makes a phenomenal one once a year, but I haven't seen a single black IPA in almost 2 years.
Also been enjoying the fuck out of Widow Jane Rye aged on bourbon barrels with staves of oak and apple wood.

Damn, Sybian. Congrats! I don’t have the energy or balls to try to make my own beer, let alone do a great job. I’m impressed.
On my home front, I shared a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon with the wife over dinner, then I took two hits on the pen. Now we are going to watch an old French film noir I recorded (with a glass of Port, in honor of Rush’s good cat). So, life is good tonight, here too. Hope all you Swampers are enjoying your Saturday night.
and Syb, congrats. It's awesome to think something so tasty (and alcoholic!) can come from your own hands. I've been on a streak of brewing some good shit, which is amazing seeing that I'm serious(ish) and while keeping things clean and all that, I don't go crazy with measurements and all that.
Black/Cascadian IPAs have just fallen out of flavour. They used to be pretty popular, just hard to have when you gotta have 10 NEIPA varients, plus the 3 pastry stouts on a 15 beer tap list.
Never been a Red Lobster guy, but if Chili's (or maybe Bennigan's, there was one of those near work back then) had thought that one up 15 or 20 years ago I might have given one or two a try. Gone out of my way to do so, even.
