Three minutes left on the third, Carolina has no shots in the period, and their 2-0 lead is now a 4-2 deficit.

After this Flames/Stars game, the next six straight games are possible elimination games.

Plenty of upsets early, but the last eight games have gone with the chalk.

Lightning move on. Pretty impressive comeback in third period to tie it and the winner from Point in OT.

At this point, unless Montreal come back, we face the winner of the Boston/Carolina series. Either is fine by me.

What would the odds have been that Matt Martin would play more playoff games than John Tavares through a couple years.

I expect the GM to be canned after this. In 5 years he has not found a coach or a goalie.

first team in NHL playoff history to be leading by 3 then lose by 4 in same game.

i was texting w a friend this morning, comparing the Flames these last 2 seasons to the ffng frustrating as shit Sabres of the mid-80s. Some huge talent and they just rolled over in the playoffs.

Obviously goaltending was bad and losing Tkachuk... those may have turned the tide. But results and all (and last year's embarrassment) are probably going to lead to some changes. Degen - what do you think? what would you want? change for the sake of it is kinda dumb but something is likely to happen.

What's the local consensus on Johnny Hockey?

Interesting. Different time in the 80s as there were teams that could never get out of their division. Buffalo could never get past Boston and Montreal. Quebec had the same problem. Montreal made the final in 86 and 89, Boston in 88 and 90. The Hawerchuk-led Jets could never get past Calgary and Edmonton, they even had the juggernaut Oilers down 3 games to 1 twice but couldn't convert. The other two divisions were crapshoots.

But in today's salary-cap and parity world there is no excuse for this. Flames are not losing to dynasty teams, they're just a poorly built team. Coaching the goaltending are the main things the the GM Treviling has never addressed. You all laughed when he hired Peters, and rightfully so. Then kept this interim loser while Gallant, Laviolette and others were out there. I still can't believe he put in Rittich last night in a 3-3 game.

As for the local consensus on Gaudreau, it's 50/50. Some thing he'll never be a playoff player and want him gone. And others, like me, would like to keep him as he is a gamebreaker. The bigger problem is Monahan. He's a very useless #1C in the playoffs. In 30 career playoffs game, he's got 8 points, playing top line minutes. I don't think the team is that far off. Trade Monahan for some pieces, Pay Lehner whatever he wants, hire a real coach and go from there. This team plays in spurts. You all saw the first 10 minutes last night, they looked like Brazil.

Flames D core of Giordano, Brodie, Hanafin, Hamonic and Anderson, plus some other youngsters, I'm not sure there's a better group in the league.
Heck the Islanders absolutely dominated the Capitals with Pullock, Peleck, Leddy and Toews. That's because they have a coach.

i'll take Monahan for some pieces, see who you can talk to. :) not sure it's widely known but hey Buffalo could sure use a #2 center ha

oddly enough, Buffalo's biggest nemesis in those mid-80s was Quebec, they fucked us. were our biggest/nastiest rival for probably 3 years, they knocked us out 2 straight years and the last one was a doozy - IIRC we hadn't won in Le Colissee in like 4 years, game 5 (best of 5 then) Sabres were up 2 in the 3rd period with maybe 7 minutes left. And lost. And not in overtime.

NHL on NBC analyst Mike Milbury is receiving criticism from media and fans for a comment he made during Thursday's broadcast regarding the NHL bubble, suggesting that there are "not even any women here to disrupt your concentration."
https://twitter.com/i/events/1296817053119082498

As soon as I heard him say that, I knew he'd catch hell. Someday, maybe he'll learn to think before he sends things directly from his brain to his mouth.

I can't believe he's still around. Worse even the they put him in the booth! Anson Carter's been refreshing. Sportsnet's new guy is Kevin Bieksa and he's been excellent. Get new blood in there, it's a totally different game.

Yes, I think Monahan held Gaudreau back and Lindholm was garbage and held them both back. What pisses me off about Monahan is he struggled to take on a prominent role with the team despite going up against the likes of Adam Lowry, Andrew Copp and Radek Faksa. For $6.3M, you have to dominate these matchups and I didn’t see that from him. He was actually pretty invisible to me for 80% of the games he played in.

31 on 33 for Carter “The Hitman” Hart*. Which is good, because during a failed breakaway I yelped “fucker!”, in front of my 12 y/o daughter for the first time.

Just being honest though. In three years I feel like the Golden Knights have provided me as much satisfaction as a fan as the Lions have done in 47. VGK has been to a final at least. Not even joking and I love being a Lions fan. I’m a Lion fan til I die short of something worse than hiring a rapist for a coach.

Totally insane to post that during a playoff run, and 0% chance walsh does that without Fleury's OK. So much for the guy everybody loves.

I don't know. Walsh repped(reps?) Drouin, and I kind of remember that he's a bit of a wildcard. I mean, I can't imagine someone doing that without knowledge of the player, but if memory is correct, Walsh is maybe the most likely to do so, of NHL agents

He does stunts like this all the time but it always calculated and planned. His clients love him because he gets results and takes the bullets as the bad guy with his public persona. Tweet wouldn't still be up 5 hours later if Fleury wasn't ok with it.

yeah pretty clearly I think. That's why people (outside vegas at least) are gonna sour MAF. Him and DeBoer both just signed 3 year contracts if I'm not mistaken.
